fast forwarded thro the last 2 episodes last night... its not improved has it..
Maybe you should have watched it instead of fast forwarding then. Its as good as its always been.
I fast forward to the start of each article, watch the intro to see if I'm interested or it looks useful, and then fast forward to the next part. Ignoring the advert breaks, and the extended 'feature' on their competition each week, that already leaves very little content.
Whats then left is so lightweight, or 'personality' based, (ie Jason acting the knob, or 'almost' up skirt shots of Suzi Perry for the 13 3/4 year olds out there ), that it leaves about 5 minutes of actual program time.
Taking this weeks episode as an example...
making coffee in a london street... with 3 coffee makers that were so far apart in price that any comparison was pretty meaningless.
taking some mountain bikes and a down a hill ( yeah because thats a 'gadget' )
Jason going to E3, but instead of showing us a decent feature on the new kit, we get about 30 seconds on the new xbox motion control thing, and 30 seconds on him being an arse with the PS3 light motion batons..
I can't count the article on printers done by Jon Bentley because his very appearence and presenting style makes me want to turn the tv off.
So you are probably right, its as good as it has been for about 3 series, ie pretty rubbish.
Once up on a time, I did watch the show every week, I even eagerly awaited its showing, and they actually did semi decent reviews of actual gadget and electrical kit, like when they had the chap in from one of the gadget magazines, but sadly this has long stopped..
Where are the reviews or comparisons of gadgets people might actually want.. eg ipad vs netbooks vs kindle, ( and a proper review, not 30 seconds of can I use it while running across a field, while I try and see if Suzi Perry is wearing any pants..), or a 'proper' review of smartphones, unlike that attempt they made 2 episodes back..
No, as far as I can see now, its a cheap filler for channel 5, and the content is built around what stuff they've been given, rather than what is new or relevant.
Shame really, maybe if they did a '5th gear' and cut it to a 30 minute slot, got rid of all the 'filler' and concentrated on just a couple of features per episode, instead of the pointless 'challenges', it could get better again.
