Some of it worked well, quite a good start for a new sit com, though I thought his mum's boyfriend was a bit OTT.

It got funnier to the end, but not as funny as I had hoped.

I thought it was excellent. Simon Amstell can't really act, but fortunately doesn't need to. I liked the bit when the grandad sits down at the computer and says "she's not from round here" or something to that effect, very subtle wink Also the Dame Edna bit at the end will only be truly funny if you've seen the Buzzcocks episode where they show him doing it when he was about 9 on that Anne Diamond thing.

I thought it was good too. Was sceptical but it did build. Recurring themes with jokes, repeated talk of creampies and broken jars esp with Grandad chipping in. Had me laughing anyway.

Not sure how it will make a series though.

I thought it was brilliant, best sit com for a long time. Who is the guy who plays grandad? He also played Sid James and he was brilliant then too. I loved the bit when the kid came down with his head shaved "is he taking the piss" smile. Can't wait for the next episode.

The mums boyfriend sound exactly the same as Terry Tibbs!

My Dad reckoned he was in Benidorm if that helps.

It was of a decent level. Amusing in a Miranda way, but a bit more 'blah'. It might get better, the two new sitcoms on Fri night are rather good, and they will do till How Not To Live Your Life/Inbetweeners series three kick inbiggrin

Wasn't too bad, although Simon is so right - he can't act smile

Bad news about Grand dad - the actor Geoffrey Hutchings is no longer with us RIP. frown . He was great as Sid James in Cor Blimey , and playing Babs Windsor was Simon's Auntie with the tash smile

I caught the last half of this last night. It seems like Amstell was trying to make a programme like Curb but failed miserably. With Curb you empathize with Larry, with this Amstell just comes across as an irritating twunt. You may empathize with him if you're socially retarded, effeminate teenager I guess.

Two word review for Grandma's House: st House.

Twunt. Excellent word. Am stealing it and shall appropriate it for my own ends.

Indeed. The subtleties and nuances of this particular 'comedy' have seemingly passed me by. The adjective I would use is 'toilet'.

I liked some of this episode but Simon didn't come across very well as his "Buddhist" views clash with his childish views of his would be step father, but maybe he is supposed to be in the wrong, we are so used to the central characters being in the right in most other shows, maybe an epiphany of "I told you he was a wrong'n or sorry for acting a prat" will come, anyway I guess it'll all come out in the wash.
There are comparisons with the Larry David's thing but funnily enough I don't like Curb your enthusiasm as he comes across as just a negative arse, smile

Never bothered with the 2nd ep, but watching the 3rd now...and it is getting funnier. The main actor looks like he should be in a Tim Burton animation, but the kid is funnybiggrin

Pretty funny although I didn't realise he was gay until half way through his actor obsession bit redface
