Why do the unemployed seem to think it's just a case of looking for a well paid job? Who told them this st?

You take any job and work up from there...

Can't gas them can we?

When they say things like "I'm not going to find a job here unless it's a PE teacher". Are they really thinking that? Are some people really that stupid they don't understand the concept before them?... Or are they just being deliberately dumb for some unexplained reason?

He's so angry at the world but can't admit to himself that it's his own fault that he's in such a state.

Graduate starting salary....with only a few GCSEs all below D grade.

Makes a mockery of the education system if he sticks it out!

This programme takes the piss, when I were a lass.....

Seriously, I started in the RAF on only £11k! The old geezer saying he won't work for less than £19k, FFS. Nurses don't get paid much more than that.

God this makes me angry.

the young guy really deserves his job. He really seems interested and keen to do it.

The other guy is useless but hopefully he'll turn it around.

He's done well, taken it all on board, modest and accepting. Hope he sticks it out.

That young lad will probably do well. Good luck to him - but most trainee solicitors outside London are paid less than that after years of study!

Changed my mind. He's clearly not bothered and seems to have a load of excuses at the ready for when some work comes along. Waste of space...

Assuming they don't take one look at your CV and think "feck, as soon as a better job comes along, he's off", of course.

Didn't see the program, but I'm guessing from this thread that that was unlikely to be the case biggrin

He got a job offer, and then had a family emergency pop up. This was the standard response to any kind of hand out he was given. Someone gave him a foot up and he turned them down. Never started the £19k a year job he was offered.

The old guy came across as a complete kcensoredd - not working for less than £22K rolleyes

And had every excuse under thes sun not to do what he was asked or to take the job they got for him....wcensoredr. It seemed his kids were getting into trouble quite a bit too (or he was using that as an excuse) as during the show (which was only over 5 weeks IIRC) 2 of his kids (or the same one twice) were stabbed or beaten up confused

The ytoung kid did well - with no qualifications I'd be very happy on a starting salary of £17.5K - he seemed alright and was clearly sticking it out and seeing where it could take him - fair play to him smile

I'm somewhat surprised that no one here has commented how John only got that job because the woman phoned one of her contacts! What are the chances of that kid even getting through the door in the real world?

I knew, just knew in my bones that older guy wasn't going to accept a job unless............no, retract that. He wasn't going to take anything.

An ex-con and (my spidey senses told me) racist to boot, no way on this earth he was going to accept a black mentor. As others have said his life is a mess because he made it that way, pigs will fly before he'll admit it though. Excuse after excuse but cunningly constructed excuses involving his family in a feeble attempt to make him look like a fine, upstanding family man instead of the workshy, feckless, idle work dodger that he is. The first step for people like that is seeing that they are the cause of their problems. It'll never happen though.

Quite, and that is how she won the show. The tough love character chose poorly there. While she chose with brilliant pinpoint accuracy a completely lazy tt.biggrin

Its no wonder when they see 2 people with very little work experience or anythign stroll into the jobs they did - especially the young guy.
