Oh good grief

Really caught on this one, some of them have me feeling sorry for them, others I want to choke the life out of

That you have to ask someone "is that alright?" to take a couple of tests a day that could save their lives, like they are doing YOU a favour?

Fact that the majority wouldnt even have it if either

a)their parents (in the case of younger ones) had made sure they had a decent diet

b) they eat properly and didnt drink like fishes every chance they get

is obviously here nor there

(and before anyone starts the "you don't know what its like" crap, I may not have diabetes but I have something that does require a similar level of loooking after)

Unfortunately I saw that

The only one (from memory) that seemed genuine was the girl with the severely lopsided pair, felt sorry for her

I *almost* felt sorry for the dizzy blond one (from Essex I think) who was so thick she clearly didn't realise that she was on the programme as an example of 'and these are the sorts of idiots we've got to deal with as well'.
I was all for giving her one (ooo-er) as long as when she was under they had a bit fiddle down below so there was no chance she was ever going to breed.

My 17 year old son has been Type 1 since he was 5. Inherited via my side of the family, I'm afraidfrown

He looks after himself, eats well and doesn't like the taste of alchohol, but that didn't stop him being hospitalised a few months ago when he got a stomach bug. He couldn't keep anything down - even water - and ended up with 2 days in hospital on a saline drip and intravenous insulin eek

Just watching this now. Have plenty of first hand experience in A&E of dealing with our young diabetic patints who basically just don't care. pH of the blood is typically between 7.35-7.45. We had a girl come in after a weekend drinking binge with hers down to 6.91 owing to the acidosis (v bad!). Had to give sodium bicarb to correct the acidosis and then she spent the next few days in the HDU. Not too far away from being dead tbh.

Diabetes is a st disease to have, especially when you're young and need constant monitoring and insulin injections. I can certainly understand the frustrations. However, when the same patients come into A&E properly sick every other week because 'they can't be arsed' it makes our job that little bit harder.

This could be the annonying programme ever. The other half is an NHS nurse and she is resigned to despair.

"I've got a fked liver but I'll drink whatever I want cause they NHS will fix me up"

Somethings really got you change you know, I don't know how but something needs to give to stop abuse of the service.
