I'm still a bit of a newbie on this forum, so apologies if a thread like this has been done to death already.

It occurred to me that most of us have probably got a vague memory of a scene from some film or other from ages ago, but we can't remember what the film was called or anything else about it, and maybe we can all help each other out on this....

So to start the ball rolling: I remember seeing this film on TV when I was a kid in the 1960s: it was a gentle comedy, of the Ealing variety, in which the main character owned an ice cream van (one of those ubiquitous old Bedfords from the 1950s and 60s - the CA, I think they were called) and he'd used it to go on a camping holiday to France. There was this scene where the van was being chased by some French coppers when the icecream van's jingle-machine started playing - but it got stuck on 2 notes, so it sounded like an ambulance, at which point the police changed from chasing them to giving them an escort. I think the film was called something like "Travels with (girl's name like Maude or something)", but I haven't been able to trace it in any film encyclopaedias etc.

Does anybody know this film?
