I don't mean the plot/storylines so mods please don't just see the word "Eastenders" and think "Ohhh TV forum".

What I mean is every time I flick to BBC1 and it's on, nothing good or positive is ever shown, it's literally just misery and death.

The last few times I've flicked over Denise was apparently dead, then Phil was doing Crack and I've just channel hopped only to see the Queen Vic in flames.

It just seems to have no positive message whatsoever.

I've always thought people watch it purely so they can think "Well, at least I haven't got it THAT bad"

That's the only reason I have ever managed to come up with anyhow.

Ugly people, terrible acting, everything is located in the same 1/2 mile of horrible east end London, awful storylines that bear little resemblance to real world situations...

yet millions of people apparently waste away their evenings watching it. I don't understand.

In some ways I feel hypocritical as I watch countless repeats of NCIS which isn't exactly cheery, but there's something about Eastenders that just seems dark, it's as if there's nothing redeeming about it.

Can anybody remember when there was actually a happy Gayenders Christmas special? I don't think I've ever seen one advertised, every fking year seems to be a death, it's not exactly festive is it?

Awful program & has been for a long time.

'slags and geezers' as one older chap calls it at work, and seems to be fairly accurate, tho I cant say I've watched it since Ethel and her little willie were in it..

It's definitely the "well my days been pretty st but hell, it's not as bad as theirs" thing.

The most relentlessly depressing and morbid show ever. I intend to watch Dead Mans Shoes later to cheer myself up. from just the THOUGHT of 'enders.

[Ethel]Has anyone seen my little Willie[/Ethel} biggrin

The last time EE was on in this abode was when last there was a woman residing here. Probably around the time when Annie Walker departed the show.

Ah, Deadenders. I thought this was meant to be family entertainment?

also, SHOUTING does not equal acting.

Cannot stand the crap. I also notice that they (BBC) seem to crank the volume up as well compared to other programmes.

Why couldn't the fire spread to the rest of the square - then they'd all go their seperate ways into social housing and that'd free up some prime time tv slots for something decent for a change . . . ?

what i find hilarious is how "actors" on that show leave and expect to be offered something really good.

you were on eastenders thats as good as you'll ever get.
