"This car doesn't produce green house gas, it only produces water vapour".

Radio 4 provided a cursory "of course, the hydrogen needs to be produced and transported".

Just don't mention the H-bomb or the use of Hydrogen in the Hindenburg Airship disaster because that'll really confuse their little eco-mental heads hehe

What's the problem?

The car only produces water vapour so in terms of reducing localised pollution associated with cars, it's a plus.

When car companies give the emissions data on their models do they include all the emissions associated with the production and transport of the fuel to the station? No.

I thought the guy from greenpeace or where ever he was from, was quick to get the boot in on production of hydrogen, transport, and lifetime/manufacturing/recycling of the entire car.

I think he was just pissed off that someone was coming up with a solution that wasn't destroy all cars.

I think the issue he was getting at was that water vapour IS a greenhouse gas. The statement made by the BBC dude was very, very wrong.

Exactly, if they want to claim that carbon dioxide is a pollutant they have to regard water vapour as pollution as well. Both are harmless greenhouse gases.

Roger that, I apologise, I thought you were meaning the production of hydrogen.

ETA although water to water is still a net increase of zero.

Not liquid water to gaseous water.
