Chris Moyles' rant about pay
Discussion
Sorry if reposted, I did a (google) search and nowt came up.
Guardian link
Long story short, the Beeb haven't been paying Christos his £50k+ a month since July. Chris rants for half an hour at the start of his show, stating that he doesn't see why he should come into work if he's not getting paid. Personally, I don't see that as such a bad thing!!
I didn't hear the show, but apparently he's got a touch of the mental over it:
"For about 30 minutes from the start of his show at 6.30am, during which no records were played, Moyles railed against BBC management, accusing them of showing a "huge lack of respect" and delivering a "massive FU to me". He said he knew who was responsible for his not getting paid and branded them a "moronic div"
Maybe the end is night for the Moyles + co show?

To be fair, Rich or not - I'd be pissed off if I had'nt been paid for 2 months.
Precisely. What people think of him is irrelevant, he signed a contract and is entitled to be paid accordingly.I'm sure the Beeb would have something to say if he didn't turn in for a few days.

I understand he's not on PAYE. How many contractors have invoices outstanding by more than 3 weeks and still manage to conduct themselves in a professional manner? Moreover, how many manage without taking it as 'a massive f
k you' and a lack of respect by a very generous employer?Edited by kenb

her on Wednesday 22 September 21:11Ah, the bi-annual Chris Moyles bashing thread.
He's the only person I listen to on radio 1 in the day as he makes me laugh. Normally it's only for 15mins in the morning on the way to work but this morning I had a long drive from Stratford to Barnoldswick. No joke, I had tears streaming down my face when they had Duncan Bannatyne on. I'm glad the traffic on the M62 was light.
If you think they'll bin him for going off on one about not getting paid when he rakes in the listeners then I don't think you'll be satisfied.

Whatever you think of him, he makes them a lot of money. A lot of license payers tune in, and a fair proportion of them feel their show is worth the license fee alone.
I like waking up to his nonsense, it's easy to listen to.
He is an employee, he should be paid for his work. When they think he's no longer worth it, he will be axed. There are a lot of people on this forum who earn a lot of money.
If he lives to his means, 2 months pay could put him in trouble. As far as I can tell he doesn't, he doesn't seem to spend a lot of it. He has an RS4 and tend to tell everyone when he buys something silly (R2D2 projector thing).
Footballers are paid a lot because they're very good at what they do, they make a lot of money for everyone and are paid accordingly. If the BBC paid everyone minimum wage, it would be sh*t, it would be full of tripe, and a lot more people would complain about it taking up all the airspace
For those who don't like him, listen to someone else. There are 4 FM stations, double that on DAB, etc. etc. etc.
£10 a month gets me

Just to ask on 2 of your points. How does Moyles breakfast show generate any money for the BBC? The podcast is free. I can't believe they syndcate it around the world ala Top Gear. To use your point about footballers. They generate shirt sales and ticket sales week in, week out. They put bums on seats to watch that team.
