Wheeler Dealer Bond Bug
Discussion
when I was a nipper, a bloke had a bond bug who drank in the pub near my house, I always thought it was rather cool, I'm sure I'd be disappointed with the reality.
If you want a really mental 3 wheeler...

I very nearly bought a Scorpion 3 wheeler

I've not watched this episode yet (I've got it Sky+'d), but I posted this back in July (relating to the last series) - how close to this script is the new series???

Mike views 1st car - decides not for him.
Mike views second car - decides he'll buy it despite its faults.
Mike shows car to Ed.
Ed thinks its great until Mike sheepishly points out faults, but he tells Ed he reckons they're easy/cheap to fix.
Ed not convinced, but says "Hmmmmmm" and gets on with it.
Ed finds fault that is far more costly to put right that originally thought.
Mike visits later. Accuses Ed of having done nothing.
Ed indignantly points out all of the hard work he has done.
Both conclude it's going to be difficult to turn a profit on this one.
Ed continues working whilst Mike 'sources required parts on the cheap'
Mike delivers parts. Ed delighted.
Car finished. Mike is amazed. Mike suggests they go for a drive.
Car goes up for 'sale'. Mike resolute he will not let the car go for less than £x,ooo.
First buyer views car. Loves it but won't pay the price. Walks away.
Second buyer. Loves car and puts in cheeky offer. Mike shocked and incredulous at the offer that has been made. Suggests counter offer.
Buyer 2 still not happy - makes counter offer. Mike agrees, on the condition they'll look after it.
Reasonable attempt at making the deal look real, but don't manage to fool anyone.
Car 'sells' for less than Mikes bottom line figure.
(Still enjoy watching though.

Spot on up until the "car goes up for sale" stage, which was very different this time.monthefish said:

)I don't think they try too hard to hide the fact that a few bits of the program are staged or run to formula, but as you say, we still enjoy watching it

I take it you missed the bit when Ed cleaned up the backing plate then?

Thought it was quite a good one last night, I love how in depth Ed always gets, wish I had a freind like that.
Finished product looked great but suprised how quick it sold and at over the asking price!? Never knew Bugs were that popular, fair play.

They used to make buttons on normal old gear now it seems they have NOTICED that doing up more lucrative cars makes them more money hence the Elan and now the bug two of the higher cash generating motors.
Lets hope they ramp up the budget and get some specialist kit in 70`s Lambos or even a nice RS2000 escort i would love to see (fishnet recaro`s drool)
