I read about this film when it was being made and thought the subject could make a good film, but having watched the first 30 minutes, I'm really questioning how much of a documentary it is and how much is staged/set up/reconstructed/scripted.

I'm still watching it though...

ETA: by now, I think it's obvious it's not a doc. The fact that he's sold the rights for a Hollywood remake also tend to bear this out.

It's as much as a documentary as Borat was.

Still some funny bits on it. One of his ex's giving an interview using a computer speach programme was amusing. Also the S&M part was hilarious.
