Seems to be up now, watching now. Simply disgraceful behaviour by these so called valet companies makes me really angry mad

As I spend a lot of time in and around various airports these revelations don't really come as a surprise to me. I often see the valet drivers hammering the cars while smoking or on phone.

They don't give a toss.

The majority of my customers never use valet parking because of these problems that have been brought to light recently.

Any chance of a quick summary? Saves having to watch it...

Or can I guess?

This ^^^

Summary of programme for person who asked.

Bloke leaves car with Company. Gets car back, notices odd stuff like sat nav moved, papers on back seat strewn around. He gets call from some Australian bloke who has been hired his car and realised that it was a private car. Got his name from the papers and phoned him up to give him heads up what was going on.

Firm when challenged immediately offered compensation, then upped it to a few thousand, at end of programme I watched bloke offered new car.

Watchdog parked a car with a tracker, it was supposed to be stored in a secure compound. Farmer's field, council recreation ground car park, and so on.

Woman who was contacted on holiday by police as her car was written off and the driver had done a runner. Police wanted to know where the owners were, obviously thinking they were the ones who had done a runner.

Usual crop of speeding / parking tickets iirc.

That's about it really.

Apart from Anne Robinson should ask for a refund on that cosmetic surgery, which is somewhat ironic in a way.

edited for a typo

Thanks FiF.

And worse than I had imagined.

Been tempted to use these guys once or twice but never quite got round to it. Won't now unless anyone has a 100% cast iron recommendation?

I used purple parking valet service at T5 for a 2 week trip to the USA recently.
Made sure they noticed me writing the mileage down when I left the car.

There were no issues and the car was returned to me cleaned inside and out.
I was actually pretty immpressed to be honest and would definately use them again.

which company was watchdog highlighting ?

The idiot here at work was well pleased with the 'bargain' valet parking he got for his recent trip from Gatwick.

Not so pleased when he got a parking 'invoice' from the local Aldi, which was some 30 miles from Gatwick... Funnily enough, his car, ( a diesel estate, so an ideal taxi ), had done a lot of miles in the time he was away, and had a half empty tank of fuel..

On contacting the valet company, they didnt bat an eyelid, just refunded his parking, petrol, and then tried to deny it ever happened..

And that is a 100% recommendation with which I totally agree.

There's a page on their site now with all the details;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2010/10/airpor...

I've never liked the idea of leaving someone else to drive my car even when it's legitimate.

I thought using a car as a taxi or rental invalidates nearly every standard new car warrenty out there.
