FOLLOWING the swine flu panic that spread across the world, Channel 5 presents a one-off docudrama presenting a vision of a world left devastated by a deadly flu pandemic.

The Los Angeles Johnson family is forced to fight for survival in the post-apocalyptic city.

With only a few human beings left in the world, Life After Armageddon explores not only the family's battle to deal with the lack of physical provisions but also the lack of human interaction.
I like stuff like this and it always makes me think how easily something like this could happen. In this case it was a global pandemic of some sort, I missed the first few minutes. Certainly worth thinking about - it's amazing how much is taken for granted nowadays. I'm totally guilty of this, just about everything relies on electricity, fossil fuels or food that I don't have to hunt. When it comes down to survival, I don't think a lot of people have much of an idea. The ones who have practical knowledge are going to be invaluable. Money will be useless and resources will be up for trade instead. This documentary also touched on the fact that due to modern medicine, we survive a lot of things that would have killed us a few hundred years ago. I wouldn't be here without chemotherapy or open chest surgery.

Always interested to hear other people's thoughts on this kind of situation. Anyone planned anything survival wise? In this documentary they said we're about 9 meals away from starvation. Looking in my kitchen, I'd probably have a week, maybe 2 weeks of food at a push. If the taps stopped working I'd be dehydrated within a few days.

ETA: looks like you can watch it on youtube if you missed it (not sure if channel 5 have a streaming service like 4od/iplayer) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1y35gTcFc4
