Blimey, I cant ever remember a year with so few people actually eligible with the possible exception of A.P McCoy with David Haye (at least he's got a personality!) a close'ish second. For gawd sake even Amy Williams (a woman who slides down a tube of ice on a fucensoredckin tea tray) is on the short list! rolleyes

Just realised...why the fucensoredck is Mo Farrah not on the list!

I have to agree.

Don't think I'll bother this year.

AP deserves it, the guy has been at the top of his game for decades, reckon he must've broken nearly every bone in his body along the way. Anyone who steps into a boxing ring for a pro fight deserves respect, the trouble with Haye is that Harrison fight was such a mismatch. Mcdowell and Swann have also had a good year. Apart from those guys, not much else in the mix really...

I'll be voting for AP McCoy being a horseracing fan as well. Been at the top of his profession for 15 years and finally won the Grand National. The only big race missing from his CV this year.

I think G-Mac this year, Won the US Open and won the final point for Europe to win back the Ryder Cup.

Think there is a thread on this in the sports section, however, amy williams will win this. First olympic gold at a winter games for 30 years or something like that, she is going to either win, or be in the final three

My vote is on Cav, but I bet the cricketer will win as it is currently in the sports pages because of the Ashes

Jessica Ennis for me. Great athlete, and great personality.

I no i am biased as i'm a huge fan of motorbikes but Ian hutchinson should of been nominated for his exploits at the tt this year, first man to win 5 races in a week and why has Valentino Rossi never won the international class???

You're right. Must be getting old, thought that was year before and could have swore Button won it last year

All through last year, Button was being predicted as the Sports Personality winner, but in the event he came second - as had Lewis Hamilton the year before - his championship-winning year, too.

It would seem that gone are the days when a British F1 driver winning the championship guaranteed him the Sports Personality crown as well.
