Sue and I went to see "The Kings Speech" at the Picturehouse. Its a good, rather than great film with excellent performances from Helena Bonham Carter and Colin Firth, although Karen from "Outnumbered" appears to have beamed in and become Princess Margaret without anyone realising. What was really surprising though was the round of applause from about half the cinema audience. I can't recall that happening at any other film I've seen, except Battle of Britain forty years ago

I remember the whole cinema cheering when the Germans failed to blow the bridge in "A Bridge too Far" - and that was in Dublin. It's not often you'll get an Irish audience cheering the Paras.

Went last night with my daughters before they went back to uni, we all thought it was pretty good, time flew by, simple story line, great acting, ( less is more ? )

Audience were well behaved, no popcorn munchers and coke slurpers, girls were amazed by how old everyone else was, gets quite nostalgic towards the end which could have provoked group clapping amongst the pensioners

Went to see it this afternoon. Really good film with some terrific performances and a great story.

The main three characters/actors are excellent.

Recommended.

Utterly brilliant film.

I wish they'd stop casting Timothy Spall in films, he's fking awful.

Very good I thought. Firth, Bonham Carter & and particularly Rush were outstanding, Firth's character became slightly irritating, although I suppose someone with and in his predicament would. I thought the low point was Guy Pearce's Edward either by design or delivery, just weak and foppish mainly. Overall the best film for acting I've seen in a while. Spall whilst poor generally only had a very minor part so was ok as Churchill.

We had a round of applause at the end of the film as well, though the audience was mostly of the geriatic persuasion.

Really didn't like Spall as Churchill, but it was a pleasant enough way to spend a couple of hours.

Saw the film on Saturday evening and agree with everyone about how great it was. It must have been hard for Colin Firth with all the stammering involved, would be both mentally and phisically tiring.

But seriously impressive, there's a good couple of Oscars in there.

Yep, It's far worse than that if you have to live with a stammer. This is the first time I remember seeing a film take the subject of stammering seriously.

There a good actors and crap actors - then there is Spall, who the theatrical establishment think is gods gift but in every film i've watched is utterly mediocre. i suspect its an emperors new clothes thing; once a number of luvvies decided he was great all the others went alomg with it.

As has already been said, I thought it was a very good film.

Fantastic acting, great story, brilliant direction.

Keep yer fancy 3D and CGI nonsense...
