Just watching this on TV now and Melinda Messenger's team attempting to sort out a badly built loft conversion, first they cut the RSJ too short and had to weld it back together then they put it in without any padstone!

The programme is a waste of time! The 2 presenters dont have a clue about building!

They should be going there to put the job right not to furnish the place to!

When they were cutting the beam I was thinking to myself - why isn't it painted/red oxided

I did chuckle when it was short rolleyes Then welding it back together! WTF! surely that has lost the strength?

And they still fitted it untreated!

I was under the impression that any structural steel that's been cut and welded back together has to be strengthened with plates either side of the web in case the weld itself fails? Could be wrong though.

I do often wonder with these shows if the shops/builders etc actually do give their services/products for free? I mean they don't even credit them at all.

Oh and Dominic is a grade A berk who is about as scary as Dot Cotton.

Read this the first time and thought you were talking about the Cowboys, not the people that were brought in to put it right!

I think Melinda Messengar is a property developer and (if I remember correctly from the last series) she uses her own builders, not very reassuring when you read OP!!

Interesting, that the cowboy-builder, offered to reimburse the couple to the tune of £3,500 if they did not show the interview with him, on TV. Oh no, this will be shown and, you are a nasty cowboy-builder. No thought was given to how the £3,500 would help with the couples stretched finances.
