Just had a look at the Central region leaflet for those who are eligible for help during the digital switchover.

On offer amongst other things is a range of digital televisions.

The largest is a panasonic TXL37G20 at £874 to include installation and provide a helpline for a year.
This can be bought on the high street for £499

Even the cheapest television has a significant markup.

This is a complete ripoff when these people are supposed to be being helped.
If you have any elderly or disabled neighbours or relatives who qualify for this, let them know.

Installation isn't rocket science, they almost set themselves up these days. So it isn't a big deal to do the setup for them.

Installation or retuning is easy. For me. For my folks, not so. For my late grandmother, I needed to sort that out.

And I got stuck retuning my recorder however the age old favourite, complete reset and tune without an aerial worked. So, for some it is a help that will be required however I am a bit wondering why they are pushing new sets? I would rather any help for the switch over stays away from this.

Can't see any trace of that info on their site, I'm presuming it's an official flyer with official branding?

Only reason I ask is that I've dealt with lots of the Switichover publicity material and I've never seen any advertising for kit barring general references to cost of set top boxes so just curious to see what this looks like.
