TG on t'beeb is give or take a bit 60 minutes. TG on Dave is 44 minutes.

Who edits the show for Dave? Do they buy the full hour and cut it down or are they supplied with 44 minute progs from the beeb?

I know that sometimes they trim little bits out of segments that make it through to the Dave versions but sometimes they just edit out an entire segment.

In any event there are an awful lot of 16 minute clippings lying around: why don't they make them into new 44 minute shows for us? I mean TG is on perma-rotate on Dave, so why don't they make use of the missing bits.

What I don't like is the editors messing around with backing music. Some of their choices are awful, simply not suiting the scene frown

I can tell you that the episode with the Peugeot V6 306 vs Austin Healy Sprite, had that entire part removed in favour of adverts in its place.

I still have the episode recorded on my Sky+ box. The intro states the film is in it, though they removed it.

Gits.

Yeah, I've noticed that happening a lot. Worst is when they have a double part challenge or trip, and they cut the last section so you never find out what happened.

But EVERY single episode has a fking star in a fking reasonable fking priced fking car. If there was one bit I wish they'd drop, it's that.

Annoys me that they keep in the worst bit of the show - SIARPC - and yet remove some of the much more interesting stuff.

When Richard is reviewing the BMW 3-Series and then they're in the studio, Clarkson asks an asian man what car he would steal, and then relises that could be construed as racist so quickly follows up with anyone under the age of 25 is a car thief...

They cut that out originally but now it's back in very cringeworthy..

Thank feck for that... I thought I was going round the twist when I was hearing odd music and thought something was wrong.

They have included bits that were originally missing when broadcast on the BBC.
There was one show in which they did a feature on Jaguar and James May was in the passenger seat of C Type Jag driven by the Stig who was really give that poor old car some stick. I think before the show was broadcast there was a feature in one of the papers with the cars owners saying TG had not respected the car and caused damage to it, so it was never shown, at least not until some time after on Dave.

I think it's all down to clearance issues. The same as when DVDs of TV shows come out and there's different incidental music. The worst example I've seen was Scottish comedy Still Game which had a different theme tune on the DVDs, as the one on TV sampled some obscure track and they couldn't get clearance for it.
