Anyone got any news on the BOND23 ??
Discussion
It's supposedly happening. Direction by Sam Mendes, rumoured to be starring Javier Bardem and Raplh Fiennes. I hope it's better than QOS. I was never sold on Daniel Craig to be honest but gave him the benefit of the doubt after a fine outing in Casino Royale. QOS however was just too low key and dark for me.
Bourne does bone crunching action so much better so 007 should just do what he does, horse beautiful women, drive fast cars and look cool. It's not rocket science. Daniel Craig looks like some pyscho doorman. So please, 007 producers, we don't want Bond in space (Moonraker), being a poor relation to Miami Vice(Licence to Kill) or flying a chopper out of a burning plane (Die Another Day, sweet Jesus) but Bond always gets dull when it takes itself too seriously.

i agree. you cant have a blonde bond. i'm not a fan of QOS. Again i thought it was too much out of character etc. it took me a while to come round to casino royale. i under stand the style of the film going back to the beginning etc and learning how he became, but it wasn't till right at the end of the film when he stood there tailored suit etc and says his name that he gets in to the character we all no and love. but QOS just went to dark and not a bond film, just a massive action fest!
hopefully this new film will be more like the good old days!

God I hope not!hopefully this new film will be more like the good old days!
Leave the good old days to the rose tinted views of the old Connery movies. That style of film making is old and tired and for me not Bond at all (it's movie lands cheeky chappy version). I feel the modern take is far more interesting and I think the new Casino Royale is possibly the best Bond movie made. Period.
Agree with some of the comments regarding QOS, but at the same time I prefer this style of Bond, far more beleiveable as a highly trained cold blooded operative. Never did like the wise cracking cheeky smile fung foo chopping playboy.
It starts filming again soon I think, not a bad turnaround given all the cast left for other project when it shut down.
Personally I think DC is the best bond yet and Casino Royal the best bond film. Connery of course was very good, but stayed on too long Bond shouldn't ever look old, Roger Moore was terrible and looked and actually was/is older than Connery and because the 'carry on' Bond, Dalton was OK but the films were terrible over Americanised toss, it was like Bond does A-Team. Bronson was Ok but the films looked cheap and he's doesn't have a great range of acting ability IMHO, one scene when he finds one of his conquests dead he bites the back of his hand and tries to show emotion was utterly cringworthy.

thirded- Casino Royal is Fabulous- much more like the original books- dark, slightly psycho, with a thin veneer of respectability- if they could just re-introduce the bentley and the Naval connection i'd be over the moon.
didn't like QoS, but that had nothing to do with the acting, and everything to do with the slightly odd story line!

As a 70s child I remember going to the pictures with my Old Man to see Goldfinger/Thunderball double-bills. Connery was James Bond. But, Casino Royale exceeded my every expectation. It's just brilliant. Craig has the role nailed from every angle. When he offed the rogue MI6 chap in cold blood during the pre-credits sequence with "Yes..... Considerably." I knew we were onto a winner.
Like many on here, I was also disappointed with QoS. I did find it better on a second viewing. Can you imagine the horror of the series going the other way, back to the 80s travesties of gondola hovercraft, Christopher Walken in an airship and Grace Jones trying to act?
Looking forward to Bond 23.

QOS was in production during the screenwriters strike, I think I read somewhere they had to use an early script pre strike and was left to the director to finish the script. I'm sure no one cares about the number of writers that pop up on the credits, and indeed lots of names is often a bad sign, but polishing, and polishing and rewriting and rewriting the script, irons out alot of guff.Like many on here, I was also disappointed with QoS. Mendes has a good track record with minimal turkeys.
November, apparently: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-13704...
I loved the Roger Moore films as a kid. (Born 1980.)
I thought the Brosnan films got a bit silly towards the end of the run.
I have now almost finished reading all the Ian Fleming books. I have half of The Man With The Golden Gun, and the last one, which I think is two short stories left.
I think the Bond that Daniel Craig portrays is closer to the Fleming books than any of the others have been, although the earlier Sean Connery films are also quite close. They are an old style of film though. (Now.)
I look forward tot he next one to see where it goes. I will go and see it at the cinema regardless of the reviews and decide for myself.

i agree ... looking forward to it!
I think Brosnan was the best Bond but his last outing was just dreadfull, Cleese, Madonna, Kite surfing a tsunami, just ridiculous.
DC was brilliant in Layer cake but why is he always pouting in Bond, he looks ridiculous.
Don't like the new bond films as bond films, they are great spy thrillers, but not Bond.
Although the Opera scene in Casino Royale is a stand out moment of all the films.

Latest Daniel Craig films were absolutely spot on! Can't wait for the latest.
Same here. I'm a big Bond film buff, but the old ones should stay in the past. I liked CR and thought QOS was a step in the right direction, Bond needs to be edgy and dark, he is a murderer for hire in simple terms. I also like the fact he isn't perfect and has almost cocked it up in some scenes. Although I hope they don't go in for too much chop socky scenes, they get boring. Two of the best fights in film history IMO opinion is Bond v Red Grant from FRWL and the baddie versus random British agent in TLD in the kitchen.
Some time ago Empire had a few good thought on how to reboot Bond, back when the Brosnan days were getting flabby, Bond shouldn't be aboot stupid gadgets and other crap, not in today's society. The suits are too conservative, Bond could be set in the 50s, could be completely in London, could be in real time, he could be the bad guy, anything!
They've got a trailer made already, was released today - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5HMitoELh0
