I saw it in the schedules and made a point of watching it, whenever it's been on I've always missed some of it. As you say, a great film.

And remarkably touching and still relevent today. Theo's speech to him after he finds out he is being "retired" a 2nd time i thought was brilliant. What a stunning microcosm of the world in general that vignette was. The world was changing, no longer were the traditional British notions enough, no longer was Britain enough, this war would change it all.

It must have been everything Churchill was thinking. It was the end of days and yet in so many ways it was the best of days for Britain.

One of my all time favourites. Lots of great scenes, I think the best is where Theo explains to the "alien registration" people why he hates the Nazis, it's brilliantly done.

Dont you yearn for a Britain which had such self confidence as Clive displays throughout the film?

You really can't beat a Powell/Pressburger film.

For me they made the best British films ever.

When I first saw Colonel Blimp it turned out to be nothing like the film I was expecting, and it's been a favourite ever since. The Searchers is another, not at all what I expected of a John Wayne film.

Agreed, A Canterbury Tale is another P&P classic.
