Loved it!
And took a bit of stick off my mates for watching it too
I couldnt really get into the last couple of series - but love the idea of growing old with a few mates and still messing around with an old landrover or sliding down a hill in a bath!
Eli was one of my favorite characters, although his appearances were fairly rare:

My favourites were the Brian Wilde ones, that's where I picked it up, sort of stopped watching when the Seymour bloke took over.
One of our earliest things we taped on the Ferguson Videostar was the special where somebody sits up in a white robe and they think it;'s a ghost, can't remember much just that it was one of the funniest things I loved at the time.
Also have fond memories if In Living Memory.

Filmed in Mythemroyd if I remember rightly.
Or maybe Luddendenfoot.
Luddendenfoot....the only two stroke town ever. Ludden den den den den den den fut...
Filmed in Holmfirth. I used to live 2 doors down from Nora Batty's steps, facing the river on Scar Fold. It was a bit bothersome when you're trying to watch TV in your dressing gown and tourists keep peering in your windows!Or maybe Luddendenfoot.

For anyone thinking of going, the chippy on the other side of the river (it was painted green when I lived there) is absolutely amazing. and there's a pub that has copper dragon ale in it nearby. Happy days.
In the later series quite a lot was filmed in and around Marsden. Auntie Wainwright's shop etc. Maybe it is because I come from flatter parts of West Yorkshire, but I never seem to get on well with these Pennine towns. Strange places, it always feels like you have arrived after half day closing. Not for nothing was the Local Shop For Local People filmed just outside Marsden too.
