Has anyone else read these weird messages on satellite that flash up for about a second between the programmes and adverts? I saw one earlier about brain washing, this one about bus drivers. Wazzup?

According to the internet, the first recorded
use of MIND control was in 1950 during the
Korean War. Since then some people blame
organised religion for BRAINWASHING the
vulnerable. Others claim governments are
responsible, using SUBLIMINAL language
to influence your subconscious brain. Well
we say cobblers. Ultimately if you want to
go down the pub, buy a new hat or eat a lovely
chicken, this is all down to you. You are in
CONTROL and no-one else is. You are a free-
thinking individual.Or is that just what they want
you to think? After all just because you're
PARANOID. Doesn't mean they're not after you.

If you are reading this then you have passed.
You are now part of a cultural ELITE. You have
transcended the shadowy world of the FLESH,
rising from the ashes of society like a shimmering
phoenix: beautiful, iridescent and EMPOWERED.
this is not about creed religion nor cult, merely
that you have seen passed the gossamer veil of
the superficial and uncovered the TRUTH. Now
the world is yours for the taking, grip it, squeeze
it for all it's worth and let the juices drip down
your throat. There is NOTHING you cannot
achieve in your luminous radiance. Except fly.
You cannot fly. Don't even try. It'll end in tears.

Bus drivers are a strange BREED. What's going
on in their lives and minds that makes them
think that way? You'd think being entrusted
WITH several tonnes of metal and glass would
make them drive with diligence and CAUTION.
But no, they plough through streets in their
hulking steel beasts with enough speed to
rip a hole in the space TIME continuum,
which is ironic as space and time are things
TO which they seem totally oblivious. As
the old saying goes, you wait for a bus for
ages and the three turn up at once - and
run you over. But don't PANIC live for
today. You may be hit by a bus tomorrow.

Why do they advertise fridges, who doesn't
have a FRIDGE? Are there thousands of
people staring vacantly at an empty space
in the kitchen next to the washing machine
surrounded by ROTTEN food? We have all
worked out by now that milk doesn't last long
at room temperature, which in itself is quite
odd as a cow is quite WARM. But then again,
yoghurt is just gone off milk and most people
like yoghurt. Maybe we're missing a trick.
Maybe we should all throw out our fridges,
wait for our FOOD to turn and see what
wonderful culinary surprises await us.
Might STINK a bit though......

Thats the full list.

What channel was it on, Channel 4? Looks like the sort of thing Derren Brown would do before a new series starts.

It's probably for some new series, broadcasted to get everyone twittering about it.

It'll probably be for some really dull series too.

The Illuminati are subliminally programming viewers to stop breeding because global population growth is out of control?

Bing! Spot the lame attempt to start yet another sodding viral campaign for something that will almost inevitably prove to be teeth itchingly irritating. Just when you thought you couldn't hate advertising executives more, they think up another arse-tweakingly annoying load of ste to pollute the ether with.

I have no idea what the product is but I hate it already. Sadly the fact there's a thread about it probably scores as a success for whatever the fk it is.

Amusing idea. It's been quite comprehensively proven that subliminal messaging of this type doesn't work, but clearly they never tested it in an advertising context... biggrin

Oh right. Only really watch South Park on Comedy Central, so thought it was just a South Park thing.

Subliminal advertising is actually banned.

Wikipedia said:
In 1957, market researcher James Vicary claimed that quickly flashing messages on a movie screen, in Fort Lee, New Jersey, had influenced people to purchase more food and drinks. Vicary coined the term subliminal advertising and formed the Subliminal Projection Company based on a six-week test. Vicary claimed that during the presentation of the movie Picnic he used a tachistoscope to project the words "Drink Coca-Cola" and "Hungry? Eat popcorn" for 1/30 of a second at five-second intervals. Vicary asserted that during the test, sales of popcorn and Coke in that New Jersey theater increased 57.8% and 18.1% respectively.

However, in 1962 Vicary admitted to lying about the experiment and falsifying the results, the story itself being a marketing ploy. An identical experiment conducted by Dr. Henry Link showed no increase in cola or popcorn sales. A trip to Fort Lee, where the first experiment was alleged to have taken place, would have shown straight away that the small cinema there couldn't possibly have had 45,699 visitors through its doors in the space of six weeks. This has led people to believe that Vicary actually did not conduct his experiment at all.

However, before Vicary's confession, his claims were promoted in Vance Packard's book The Hidden Persuaders, and led to a public outcry, and to many conspiracy theories of governments and cults using the technique to their advantage. The practice of subliminal advertising was subsequently banned in the United Kingdom and Australia, and by American networks and the National Association of Broadcasters in 1958.

On honeymoon in 1998 we noticed on unrelated adverts on Singapore telly that had odd frame 'Use Condoms' flash up on them.

I find the whole subliminal thing quite fascinating. smile

I think they're by Olivia ... not sure, or they are advertising the new live at the apollo?? same font, makes sense white and red. I don't think it has anything to do with subliminal messaging... we'll see if my dreams are weird tonight.
