Senna documentary at cinema in Bham June
Discussion
I know some of you rabble hit the flicks every so often, and thought this might possibly be up your street...
One of the highlights at Sundance and SXSW this year was Asif Kapadia‘s documentary on Formula One racing legend Ayrton Senna.
The film only uses private archival footage from media mogul Bernie Eccleston’s collection, which has never been seen before.
Senna’s remarkable story, charting his physical and spiritual achievements on the track and off, his quest for perfection, and the mythical status he has since attained, is the subject of Senna, a documentary feature that spans the racing legend’s years as an F1 driver, from his opening season in 1984 to his untimely death a decade later.

For those who've not been to the Electic, it's the UK's oldest working cinema and there is none of the neon or buckets of coke here - homemade cakes, fresh coffee, and chips/houmous and olives are the order of the day, with an absinth chaser. Really nice place, just down the grubby stairs from New Street train station and round the corner from China town. Sofa's available with text your waiter during the film.
They're taking bookings for this documentary mid-May for showings during the first week of June.

About one week to go chaps!
I'm dusting off the Lotus & heading to Donington Park museum Friday morning to check out the Senna collection of cars & helmets and to relive >that< lap.
I'm then taking the back roads over to Birmingham for a spot of lunch followed by the first showing of the film at The Electric, sofas & beers, splendid! - Many thanks for the recommendation Agrilla.
I'm really looking forward to this, will be quite emotional.
