Indeed. In her day she was very pretty and a good foil for Tom Baker's Doctor.

From the Daily Wail site regarding the Sarah Jane series:

The BBC had planned to produce a fifth series, but that now looks unlikely following her death.

Another childhood memory gone.

There are believed to be three episodes "in the can" so to speak. Liz became ill in mid March whilst filming them. Given the way they are filmed that will be six half hour's for CBBC. Russell Davies and the production team could produce a episode to "complete" Sarah-Janes's story using the SJA, Torchwood and Doctor Who cast's. It depends on where they feel Elizabeth Sladen would have liked to leave the series and how they would like to pay tribute to the best loved of the Doctor's companions.

RIP Elizabeth.

From what I've read, she was hugely enthusiastic about all her work around Doctor Who, so she would probably have supported any such efforts.

And judging by the way she was liked amonst the cast and crew, you'd probably have pretty much every cast member from the last 10+ years wanting to get involved.

So Sad, the boy is gutted he loves SJA. Makes me drive past 'her house' "to see if she's in" whenever we're over Penarth (near Cardiff where it's filmed).

Hope they do someting cool with her character to tie off the story rather than just never mentioning it again.

Very sad to hear this news. She was the first Dr Who assistant I can remember.

Very, very sad. She was always my favourite Dr Who assistant and IMO still looked pretty good for her age. I'm sure my kids will be upset when they find out.

I'm sad to hear this (she and Tom Baker were where I joined Dr Who), and my 9 year old daughter's upset too. "Daddy, why do people have to die?"

She will be missed by many, RIP frown

I am gutted at this news. I love Sarah Jane and was also a Tom Baker/Sarah Jane child.

She looked so fabulous and came across as having a lovely warm personality.

Rest in peace Sarah Jane. x
