The Shadow Line starts tonight on BBC2 @ 21:00.

Looking forward to this as it stars Chiwetel Ejiofor who I think an excellent actor.

Followed by new series of Psychoville at 10pm.

I used to work with Chewitel's brother many years ago who was called Obi.

Think their parents were Star Wars fans?

Psychoville is a repeat, but still plussed.

Just caught an advert for the shadowline, not sure if I buy Rea's performance, trying to be a bit Smiley?
But this too is plussedbiggrin

Well, if the start is anything to go by, will be a lot of old crap.

Good to see David Schofield back on TV as well (Darts player from American Werwolf pub!)

I think the BBC have a mandate that no character cars should be worth more than a grand. hehe

I think it's so they're an awful lot cheaper to crash at a later stage, several times, from several angles. Thus minimising the Daily Wail-esque anti BBC white noise around wasting public money. Especially so on low audience grabbing, high budget producing intelligent drama.

The review I read (Times I think) said the first two episodes were poor but it got much better; having watched last night it certainly needs to get a lot better, it was like watching a poor rehersal, Rafe Spall (the nephew) was just awful.

I thought it was ok-ish (apart from some pretty iffy dialogue), will probably watch next weeks to see if it improves. The only really poor part was the young "gangster" trying to be Gary Oldman in Leon and ending up looking like a total knob.

Well, for those of you that gave it another go (from the posts above probably not that many), what did you think of the second episode?

I'm enjoying it. I'm glad the producers are happy to press on with a slow turning of the screw approach rather than smacking me in the face every two minutes with explosions and obvious plot developments. There's room for everyone in life.

I quite enjoyed it, even if some of the dialogue is a bit over the top. Stephen Rea is excellent as the mysterious 'Gatehouse' but the bloke that plays the gangster's nephew is still getting on my nerves.

Watched it again last night and it was much better, I engaged with it much more. 'Gatehouse' is almost a David Lynch type character, interesting to try and work out who he is, what his motive for helping the driver is. Rafe Spall (nephew) still quite annoying, but better, I told Mrs MG that his white Lexus was going to crash about 30 seconds before it did, cars of little value always crash in TV drama.

The lad who likes to hit things? Worst thing in the first episode for me, he certainly isn't scary at all.
