Are they going too far, what will this mean to the UK and France? I can see a lot of annoyed countries around the world and within Europe.

I would say they are going too far - who's views would the EU be representing?

They already went well beyond too far, they're on the return leg now.

i'm sure they'll do what van Rompuy wants, which is that the UK and France give up their seats and replace it with a combined 'EU' seat.

No doubt, if it actually happens, they'll ask us and the French to do so, and will get a 'fk off' if they do, not even the French are that Europhile.

If they just want their own seat, then there's not much to worry about if it doesn't affect us, but it inevitably will, as the US, Russia nad China ignore us and France and think the EU represents our views too...

ugh, TIME TO LEAVE THE EU MESS

More proof that they have no idea what they are talking about in Brussels.

A bunch of EU burocrats who are too poor in quality to work in their own countries. The majority have socialist do-gooder weak-kneed limp-wristed leaning but still haven't got their accounts in order. A bunch of feckin commie thieves!
JMGS4 an unwilling member of the EUSSR (I only OKd an EEC!!!)

It's the story of the EU all over really, isn't it? Let's combine 2 votes into one, thus being less than the sum of our parts.

Strange how USA seems to manage OK with its collection of 300 million people and 50 states. wink

...and then it'll happen anyway.

Best you don't look at the US deficit or it's foreign policy failures then...;)

The difference is that the USA is democratic with a democratically elected president, the EU is not a democracy, it appoints those that will serve its' vision.

Who elected Von Rompuy?

That's not strictly accurate though, is it?

Besides, the queen has no real political power anyway. It makes me laugh when the anti royals try and compare the queen to politicians. Shows just how ignorant they are.

Thanks Einstein.

If the Queen has no power, why are royalists so fond of brown-nosing around the royal family and funding them at public expense? Might as well stick some fancy jewellery on Cheryl Cole and fund her from the public purse.

Sounds accurate to me. He was elected by the prime ministers of member states. How do you think the British Prime minister gets elected? He's certainly not chosen by voters - they can only vote for the local MP in their own constituency.

So we're left just another anti-EU rant.

I'm a busy man Ozzie, so I'm not minded to take the time to educate you on the error of your thinking. Perhaps a little reading would help you grasp reality? Facts mind you, as opposed to the outpourings of the socialist workers handbook.

Sorry if I'm coming across as rude, but given your contributions here and on other threads I'm struggling to see you as anything other than a blinkered, poorly informed, chippy left wing drone.

As you were
