If it wasn't so tragic this would have been funny.

That is terrible she sounded like a great person who made a substantial contribution to society.

When I die I just hope my death doesn't make the DM.

There's something wrong with the photos with that story. Firstly the photographer must have asked the husband if he minded standing casually next to the pond where his wife drowned and did he still have the statue still lying around. Secondly the statue is showing no signs of remorse and is clearly rather pleased with itself.

Lots doesn't add up with this...

Twice the drink drive limit and he says she must have had a gin and tonic whilst out.

I'm getting far too sceptical these days.

That's really sad, but it does sound a bit like a Midsomer Murders plotline.

Was it really an accident? Where's DCI Barnaby when you need him?

Who the hell would pose next to the pond?

Something is very fishy about that (no pun intended).

I think I may have to call bullst on the story.

She was trapped in water by wood, wood floats.

Very odd.

Hmm, you're common sense chip fails you... the pond is 18in deep, a big lump of wood was on top of her, not much opportunity for floating!

Still sounds fishy though!

I thought that too - it must have been some G&T.

He seems very matter-of-fact about it.

As they only recently moved in together, I wonder if they've also recently done new wills?

You don't need all the wood in the water to float. Even some of it in the water would make it lighter and easier to lift. Less dead weight to move. (You could be right with angle, how much wood was on her/in the water etc.)

It does look odd though, very strange.

It's not like the gargolye weighs 10 stone or something - it surely can't be heavy enough to stop someone getting back out of a pond ?!

Well, there is a clear likeness with Prince Michael of Kent...
