BBC News Story said:
When BBC interviewer Victoria Derbyshire interrupted to say "Rape is rape, with respect" Mr Clarke replied: "No it's not, if an 18-year-old has sex with a 15 year old and she's perfectly willing, that is rape. Because she is under age, she can't consent... What you and I are talking about is we are talking about a man forcibly having sex with a woman and she doesn't want to - a serious crime."

The justice secretary should not be in his post at the end of today
I despair of Her Majesty's Opposition, that they selected this fkwit to be the leader. A strong opposition is a good thing; it keeps HMG honest.

This? It's like alternately kicking a kitten and arguing with a dead sheep.

Who, as a bonus, has a stupid voice and face.

Milliband is brilliant, he has to remain Labour leader, he's the best weapon the conservatives have against Labour. smile

I don't think Clark has put the story across in the right way at all.

My understanding is if the discount for a guilty plea is increased, the likelyhood of any justice at all is increased, as a higher percentage of defendents will plead guilty rather than taking the risk of a trial. As it stands, a ludicrously low number of people are found guilty at trial following an allegation of rape.

I would imagine his policy was to try and fix that element.

"Kenneth Clarke has become embroiled in a major row over sentences for rape after appearing to suggest that "date rape" did not count as a serious offence, prompting calls from Ed Miliband for David Cameron to sack his justice secretary.

Clarke took to the airwaves on Wednesday morning in the face of a fierce reaction to the disclosure on Tuesday that he intends to increase the maximum discount for an early guilty plea for rapists from 33% to 50%.

But instead of calming the row, the justice secretary's media appearances and explanations have only served to fuel the controversy.

A rape victim broke down in tears after confronting Clarke when he appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live, telling him his sentence discount plan was a disaster.

During other television interviews, Clarke appeared to claim campaigners had only singled out rape because it injected a degree of "sexual excitement" into the argument over discounts for early guilty pleas for all offences.

But it was his statement that no one convicted of a "serious rape" would be released as quickly as those guilty of some "date rapes" that sparked a political furore as Labour leader Miliband challenged Cameron over the matter at prime minister's questions."

Clark appears to be making decisions for rape victims. Many want their day in court. The problems lies with the degree of leeway allowed defence council. If they wish to aggresively cross examine the victim they should indicate their defence ploy to the judge for him to say yay or nay.

And the media alomst universally suggests that Clark propses halving the penalty when they must know this is not what he said. It is quite clear that his idea is that in addition to the 33% reduction allowed for a guilty plea there should be an additional 17% if the plea is much ealier.

And a small point: consential sex with a 15 year old is not rape. It is unlawful sexual intercourse.

the Lyrics in that pencil drawn picture are from Rammsteins Ich Will, or is there another meaning?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_dff-7EIVI&fea...

Full Lyrics below.

I want to

I want you to trust me

I want you to believe me

I want to feel your eyes

I want to control every heartbeat

I want to hear your voices

I want to disturb the peace

I want you to see me well

I want you to understand me

I want your fantasy

I want your energy

I want to see your hands

I want to go down in applause

Do you see me?

Do you understand me?

Do you feel me?

Do you hear me?

Can you hear me?

We hear you

Can you see me?

We see you

Can you feel me?

We feel you

I don't understand you

I want

We want you to trust us

We want you to believe everything from us

We want to see your hands

We want to go down in applause - yeah

Can you hear me?

We hear you

Can you see me?

We see you

Can you feel me?

We feel you

I don't understand you

Can you hear us?

We hear you

Can you see us?

We see you

Can you feel us?

We feel you

We don't understand you

I want to

There are a number of opinions on what they were on about with Ich Will.

Some have gone to a great detail to involve Nazism from the video itself, the shrine being in the manner of the one to Horst Wessel, the skinheads lining the steps etc, Tilk with a duff right leg, the same as Joseph Goebbels, etc, etc. rolleyes

I prefer the explanation given by Rammstein in 2001 myself, strangely held in the house of Erich Honecker, the controller of the German Democratic Republic.

Its not just Miliband, but the BBC is on a witch hunt as well.

Ministers have to restrict themselves to the most innocuous comments, otherwise their will be a whole host of the liberal media ready to take offence on other's behalf.
