Greenpeace angry with VW's fight against cuts (video inside)
Discussion
Not really got a lot to say on the matter myself, as I don't really have strong leanings either way.
I just wanted to post their spoof on VW's latest advert. I think it's awesome...
Available here
Again, I don't have a leaning either way, but the ad is cool

I don't even know where to start being fustrated at that terrible peice of propoganda. The analogy is shocking and every point they raise is daft.
Not making technologies available. Rubbish. It's just bentley don't want 1.4 diesels.
Pricing the better emissions cars up. No kidding all that emissions gear costs.
Super efficient prtotypes. Yea to keep them happy. VW know before they start they won't be economically viable.
Dependancy on oil. Fuel efficiency and carbons are not mutually exclusive.

Greenpeace, is that the organisation where even the founder has disowned them?
Co-founder.He's pro-GM, pro-nuclear and skeptical of out ability to predict the climate in the future. PH should love him.

Greenpeas were at the Nohopenhagen climate summit and got a bit angry there too iirc.

As to Patrick Moore, not the astronomer the environmentalist, yes he has a very good take on the situation with so-called global warming and its new breed of followers. Two quotes from him:
“There were always extreme, irrational and mystical elements within our movement, but they tended to be kept in their place during the early years. Then in the mid-Eighties the ultraleftists and extremists took over. After Greenham Common closed and the Berlin Wall came down these extremists were searching for a new cause and found it in environmentalism. The old agendas of class struggle and anti-corporatism are still there but now they are dressed up in environmental terminology.”
"“I now find that many environmental groups have drifted into self-serving cliques with narrow vision and rigid ideology. At the same time that business and government are embracing public participation and inclusiveness, many environmentalists are showing signs of elitism, left-wingism, and downright eco-fascism. The once politically centrist, science-based vision of environmentalism has been largely replaced with extremist rhetoric. Science and logic have been abandoned and the movement is often used to promote other causes such as class struggle and anti-corporatism. The public is left trying to figure out what is reasonable and what is not.”

I don't understand that video. I mean, yes I can see how they use the old trick of using child actors to engage the audience (think of the children), but really, what's the story? Darth Vader looks at a car, some other Star Wars good guys walk up to him, they all hold light sabres, and then the Death Star shoots a laser?
What does it mean?
What does it mean?

It means that armed and violent feral youths acting in a pack mentality and picking on people minding their own business will get their comeuppance? What does it mean?
VW are making cars that people might actually want to buy and are making a practical solution for right now in developing fuel efficient diesel cars rather than headline grabbing, attention seeking cars that shout, "Look at me, I'm saving the planet," but aren't really viable. We don't have a hydrogen infrastructure and elecric cars are never going to be a family's only car any time soon but a Bluemotion Golf just quietly goes about being fuel efficient with free road tax whilst allowing VW to produce Lambos and Bentleys at the other end of the CO2 scale.
Do Greenpeace not know about this coffee powered Scirocco from Bang Goes The Theory?

No matter what happens, earth will not blow up like Alderan did. Proving that Greenpeace either don't understand how global warming is supposed to work or that they haven't seen Star Wars.
Not only that, to prove Greenpeace is totally wrong, R2D2 has legs. It's a clever advert.
VW led the world with their adverts in the 60s. One famous newspaper as was a shot which showed an empty parking place and the reader would assume that a Beetle had parked there and driven off.
Since then they've always tried to be a bid radical and different.
If this advert does go viral it will help VW. Such virals always backfire.
