Yes they won in a safe seat but their majority took a kicking

There will be more of this.

When the public sector and the dole scroungers realise that Labour is no longer some magic money and handouts machine, that the linkage between unions and politicians and outcomes has changed, the real rout will begin.

And still the Independent managed to come up with articles on "Labour heralds fight back".

The degree of head-in-the-sand thinking on the Left gives me hope. Long may Labour keep that dreary robot (the unions' choice) as a leader.

What should also be remembered is that Labour were quaking a bit.

In the equivalent Holyrood seat in the Scottish elections just back in May, the SNP came within just 500 votes of winning from Labour.

So, although Labour's majority was down by around 9,000 from last year's general election, the turnout was down as well.

I'm not supporting Labour and don't, but for the SNP it was a disaster as it was for the Tory Coalition's partners the Lib Dems' - - their support totally and utterly collapsed.

Lib Dem Sophie Bridger won a miserly 627 votes, down from 5,007 in the general election.

Nothing to cheer about for any of 'em!
