The Peer has been jailed for nine months for fiddling expenses from the parliamentary expenses scheme.
I understand that investigations are ongoing regarding his expenses claimed from Essex C.C.
Who is next for porridge I wonder.

I also thought the sentence was lenient, last I had heard was that he was considering appealing against the conviction.

Too right.

Not much reaction to this on here as with the previous sentences, when it was Noo Labour scum.

Labour Tory scum! tongue out

Still a bit like the usual criminal justice system, why has he only got 9 months when what Hanns has done imo is as bad, if not worse than the other fiddling scum?
He's 70 so perhaps the sentence was ageism!

They are all worse than benefits cheats, irrespective of party. Why isn't the repugnant old fraudster Baroness Uddin facing time?

Lord Hanningfield or to use his real name Paul White is currently under police investigation regarding his expenses claims whilst he was the Essex C.C. Leader. So he may face a few more bowlfuls of that porridge in due course. Meanwhile he is appealing his current conviction. The man appears to be in complete denial.

Personally, I think they should be in 'stocks' at their seat as a pre-curser to starting their sentence. Sell sponsorship to a supermarket who can supply the rotten fruit and veg.

Last night the BBC local news reported the the disgraced peer has now had his Essex C.C. Members allowance stopped. At 800 quid a month this bloke was doing very nicely indeed, courtesy of the tax payers, and his got the brass neck to appeal his conviction regarding his Parliamentary expenses, beyond belief.
