Now that's a stty day at work.......am very pleased he got up and walked away.

I'd like to hear Bruce's views on that, but it looks like the door handles were boobytrapped?

Blimey ! Looks like he was lucky in that most of the blast direction wasn't towards him. Always did wonder how much protection those suits provide.

Was that a bottle of piss rolling on the floor near the end?

I'm going to sound incredibly ignorant now, but I didn't know this sort of thing happened in Thailand. In a related news story they casually mentioned that 90 people died in protests/riots last year. I don't remember them reporting it at the time and yet they never stopped talking about the riots in Greece or in France a year or two ago.

It's the 'religion of peace' insurgency in the south that has killed hundreds of people over the last few years. Even in the rest of Thailand we don't hear much about this, I think it's something they would rather keep quiet.

The protests in Bangkok last year were totally unrelated, and I doubt if this car bomb is anything to do with them.

But it is a colourful country with much more violence than it gets credit for

As someone else mentioned this is southern Thailand, the border with Northern Malaysia. It gets very little press anywhere but hundreds get killed each year, it's a bit of a northern / southern ireland type thing with the Thai's (Buddhist) and Malays (muslim)

He was a lucky lad, with some big balls!

I want to know how do "anti-bomb" suits work and against what level of explosive and how much do they cost? Anyone here have a clue?

Looks like most of the force was angled away from him - might have been a different outcome had he been on the other side.
