A bit of history, there has been 2 swans on Northlands park lake for years, each year they are tormented by the local scum. Last year the council and angling club built a fence to protect them and their eggs. This year the male was found decapitated, teeth marks too big for a fox, seems the local dog dragging scum had decided the swan was fair game.

Is heart wrenching reading about the female wandering where the body of the male was found, I hope she find peace where she is now.

In other news, over 1,400 people in Derby are looking at unemployment, a British soldier was found dead and... erm... a bird was killed by a dog. Oh well.
Sorry, I don't really view this as a story.

We can read birds' thoughts now? That's an amazing breakthrough and should be on the front page of every newspaper in the world, surely?

Perhaps the front page of every newspaper should explain that to wander is different to wonder.

Jesus, again? There was a story lately aboot some scumbags who killed a load of swans seemingly for fun.
What kind if scum does this? The same kind that like to set the other animals onto each other, set fire to cats and the like.
Battersea Dogs home in the past few years has had the amount of dogs it has to put down skyrocket...is there a particular type that has skyrocketed in the numbers...yes. The pitbull/staff type of dog, they gets thousands in. Normally from the sub-human scum who breed them to be nasty and then want nothing to do with them when they turn out not to be monsters.

edit
"In April last year, the swan's four eggs were smashed by vandals who hurled stones, rocks, bricks, bottles, logs and tree stumps on to the nest."
FFS, what lovely feral kids we have here.

So start your own topic about those news stories?
I don't see the point of your response. Can't we talk about anything else today?

It's just a bit "who gives a fk?" really. There are plenty of things worth talking about, worth getting emotional over and getting into debate about. I just don't particularly see the merit of this story or this thread as being newsworthy.

Oh, I will, I'm just wondering where we draw the line on what constitutes a story worth reporting on the BBC or what constitutes "news" to make it a legitimate thread in the news section of a popular internet forum... A bird getting killed by a dog, what's next, a kid picks some daffodils? Ah, that was news too... rolleyes

Still, as long as we can harp on about how this is an indicator of society going down the toilet and we can get the outrage bus fired up, I suppose it'll make some sensationalists happy.

So what the fk are you doing on a forum about cars when there is so much more important stuff to worry about? Where do you draw the line between important and irrelevant just so we all can comply?

You heathens do realise that swans are protected and owned by the Crown? Scum are not allowed to harm them or it's off to the Tower.

They pair for life, and appear to grieve the loss of their partner. Its not a difficult concept, some humans have feelings as well.

I think its a general indicator of the way society is going, and the general apathy to the downward spiral. Its the same mentality they means when my car got keyed I'm just expected to accept it, because its not really important in the big scheme of things.

Oh I don't know, there's a certain magical mystery about the place. I've got two Subaru Foresters, they were both originally registered in Derby. And I live in Sussex!
