So, the papers know who was hacked and when but they're still 'drip feeding' us with the stories in order to sell papers. First the Dowlers, then the 7/7 victims/families, now Afghanistan victims families. I'm sure there will be more to come over the next few days too. rolleyes

Goes without saying that they'll milk it I guess, the more papers they sell, and the more they can legitimately get the knife in a competitor, the more money they make.

I'm not sure if it's going to badly affect the NOTW anyway, if I was the kind of person who was interested in knowing about other people's private lives, I would approve of whatever means were needed to get the juicy inner details, so the more hacking etc the better. But forunately I am not.

Why is the focus not on voicemail security of the mobile phone companies?

AFAIK the only 'hacking' that went on was simply dialing into someone else's voicemail, no password or anything required.

They did require pasword but it was usually set to the default

More a failing on the part of the account holder (arguably - though i believe peopel are now forced to change numbers).

I wonder what exactly could have been on these voicemails

99.9% of the voicemails I've ever had basically say "call me back please"

Well in the case of Mily Dowler I imagine it was tearful family and friends pleading with her to come home?

Actually, as I understand it, they know who MAY have been hacked. The sole evidence in most cases is that a PI involved in phone hacking had their phone number.

So? If I forget to lock my door, does that make it any less of a crime for somebody to come in and nick my TV?
