Well lets have it - with the talk of the EU's immanent collapse and things going from bad to worse in the US of A, what will the real impact be to GB?

I know the PH collective of doom its always good at giving the worse case scenario, then moving on to state how you have never had a loan, you have piles of cash, your well built (with goatee) and you've done a stretch for assault with Redbull.

I'm thinking that something big has to give sooner or later, when it does, what will it be?? Apart from a double barrel what should we all be doing to prepare for it....if anything. I'm assuming if the EU goes down the pan its going to take out a number of top tier banks in the UK with it, or is that just alarmist.

I`ll hold up my hand at not knowing much about economics per se, but if the Euro does collapse, I reckon that financial markets across Europe including UK will fall. If it goes beyond that, well it could be 1929 revisited!

Yeah its all just smoke, especially the US debt ceiling.
Euro could cause the biggest mess, but thats all resolvable, politics will break it.
The ECB can always just print Euro's to buy dodgy bonds.

A good stack of US profits posted yesterday etc..

How much of that is to do with the weak dollar, and how does that help the budget deficit?

Budget deficit is irrelevant, its a political sideshow.

The weak dollar may have helped somewhat for exporters, but that's par for the course.

I think it's a good idea to have a little amount of cash stashed away at home, just in case your bank goes bust and you have to wait months before your money is returned.
Might also be a good idea to buy spirits whilst they're on offer in case a bartering scheme develops hehe
