Break into a house, attach bomb necklace to struggling young girl then leave, but then make a ransom demand?

The police have apparently ruled out self harm but I'm still suspicious.

Nightime here and was dark when I got home.

My route from the ferry went past it, but can't get within 2 blocks - only police lines and flashing police/ambulance lights.

Pretty strong presence and are not letting people mill around for good reason.

Had a number of tactical response and emergency trucks go past mine about 1 hour ago but not much else.

Yep, just been reported on the news that she's been reunited with her family, sans bomb obviously. What a bizarre story though, as said in the OP, it's like the plot from a bad film!

Just seen a photo of said girl on the news.

I'd gladly give her another type of necklace if it helps her get over this trauma.
