I have some cash tucked away with this lot, but am afraid the **** is about to hit the fan with the Spanish banks. Do I pull it out of there and put it in much safer hands in Blighty? RBS for instance :-)

Anyone with any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks
Mark

Surely as one of the largest banks, your money is as safe there as anywhere else? (under the mattress aside!)

IIRC Santander is not on the list of Spanish banks at risk.

santander is not one that is currently at risk,

i'm guessing your money is in the UK which would mean its actually in a Santander UK bank, which are more of a subsidiary of Banco Santander in Spain.

so even if the ones over in Spain do go tits up the Uk section of it is still safe.

Thanks all, its under the cap and in Santander UK. My paranoia has recently extended to not trusting the cap. Call me Mr Picky, but the mattress may be safer. Actually maybe a mattress business, with mattresses specially designed to hold large amounts of ready cash with ziplocks underneath and a free padlock. Hmm....cashsafemattresses.com. Right, I`m off to start a new business.

This business idea is coming along nicely. The residual income from selling a customer list to the local burglars would be immense.

I'd rather have sterling deposits in an SG bank than UK one.....making mental note to shift my funds across.....

Without doubt they are a pack of useless gobstes. I was accosted yesterday outside one of their branches and informed the lady politely but firmly that I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than deal with her company ever again.

I am certainly not in a position where I have to worry about losing money... I don't have enough to worry about... Have to say though, I have no issues with their customer service (as opposed to HSBC who I was with beforehand!)
