I'd love tobut im not sure i'd trust our lot to run it all by themselves either. Really is a sad state of affairs.

Sign anyway. All it will do is trigger a discussion in parliament - assuming they stick to their word.

They're not in control at the moment and things are going from bad to worse. The sooner it is over the better.

What the people want instead of what will line politicians pockets?

It will never happen.

It's actually getting signatures REALLY quickly. If you sit there and refresh the page a couple of times you'll see the number going up fast. I think something like 200 people have signed in the last 20 minutes.

The world is turning into superstates, EU, USA, China etc. Little countries like us on our own are pretty insignificant. We should remain in the EU purely for trade purposes HOWEVER we should be petitioning for our contributions to be reduced as it feels like we're paying for their single currency fiasco which we arent in and we should be on the outside as far as europe wide laws are concerned. And with the new Government very keen on the power being given to people etc (until the people do something they dont like then expect that to change quickly) it might be something they'd run with.

Only a total fool would think this was about which newspapers we like to read.

If you're drawing any kind of socio-economic analogy between the UK and India and China, for that reason I'm oot and will not be signing your petition.

I guess since this has now been moved out of the 'general' section by someone helpful we might as well just delete the thread. Well done boys!

It's not my petition.

Why are people so desparate to put character or perceptions down as a total road-block to any further thought on the matter?

The point I'm making is that when someone says something really stupid like: "how would the UK alone work the likes of china India in the new world." - then why not follow through with more similar logic?

As I'm currently earning a decent crust and keeping a number of people in gainful employment as a direct result of our relationship in the EU, I might give this one a miss if you don't mind!

How can anyone working directly for the EU be earning an honest living?

Because - and I'm not trying to cause offence here - answering with another stupid answer makes you come across as stupid. The subtleties of meaning that would come across with a verbal response are usually lost on a forum.

Besides it is a genuine question. Despite the bks that go along with being a member of the EU, we do see actually see some benefits. I don't want to sign a petition that is biased in its wording. I would, however, like to see an independent assessment of what the pros and cons are with respect to socio-economics, which is very different than a call to leave.

No, there aren't any benefits. I challenge you to name one? Taking money from us, trousering a cut and then giving us some back with directions on what we can use it for does not constitute a benefit.

Reciprocal free health treatment in the EU. Very convenient for holidays.
