Housing benefit was recently capped at £400 per week, but the Khaliifs are able to claim more because they moved before the change came into force.

Its designed to make you angry
Its the worst newspaper in this country by a long long way total gutter press with a face of respectable middle england
To be honest, if it is true it really does not matter who actually wrote the article.
I would feel the same regardless of where it was printed.
There must be at least 2 feckless gits in the commons with common sense enough to know that this is one of reasons where up s
t creak and that stopping it maybe one of the ways to cure the system.

Hard to pin the blame on any single one person. More of a "the system is at fault" problem where this type of thing has gone on for a long time, unchecked. I am sure there are excuses for all those involved. The Daily Mail exists purely to annoy, irritate and highlight the extreme.... hate filled paper, wrapped up in an attempt of middle class sensibility.

29 familys living in council houses worth over a millionI would feel the same regardless of where it was printed.

I would imagine the council rent the houses from a private landlord and then sub let to the council tenant. Thats certainly how it works round hereI'd wager there's a damn sight more than 29 privately let 1M+ properties that are funded by benefits.

The council can’t be at fault as they are legally obliged to house them – I would guess that the council doesn’t have any empty social housing large enough for the family involved therefore they have to be placed in the private sector and given where they are then that property is likely to be expensive to rent.Hard to pin the blame on any single one person. The longer term solutions are:
Cap housing benefit – this is coming into effect
Refuse to house people in expensive areas – this will inevitably happen to a degree as a result of the benefit cap
Change the law so that local authorities anywhere no longer have a duty to house people – I think this is unlikely
Build more social housing – unlikely given the current economic and political climate

£8K a month. Incredible. I have never, and I will never, earn £8K per month. And that's, like, working. Handing what amounts to a lottery win to a bunch of foreign scroungers is to my mind a criminal act far worse than most of the looting we've seen recently.
That's £96,000 per year on rent alone. I'd assume their neighbours must be earning combined incomes of well in excess of £250-300k to just be able to afford their houses and live day to day. It makes you sick to think that if you played the system well, you could live like a king.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
