That and the amazing ability of life to keep fighting. I'm always amazed at the human body to get on with stuff.

I wonder what the music selection was that was so bad that he would rather live than be signed off that way.

Good on him. Shabash to the nurses too.

Good news, but something still amiss, the fact he has to wear hipster glasses.

The miracle of being a fit young man. I know a guy who in his mid twenties was filtering in traffic on a motorbike, an Astra van pulled across infront of him and he hit it straight in the side. He hit it with such force that the momentum of his body carried the van through a full 180 degree roll with him now under it, when the emergency services arrived all they could see of him was a pair of motionless legs sticking out from under the vans roof and they initially concentrated on extracting the driver safely, right up to the point when the legs started kicking!

His list of injuries were very similar and he spent a fair few months in hospital followed by a stint in rehab' at Hedley Court (they don't just do troops injured in combat) It was openly stated by the Doctors that they believed the only way he survived was because he was a very fit young Royal Marine with a body in as good a condition as it could be and a mind set that simply would not quit. He was eventually discharged on medical grounds but now days lives a full and active normal life.

About ten or eleven years ago a friend of my in-laws was a passenger in a motorcycle accident somewhere around Milton Keynes.

To cut the long story short, the bike basicaly cartwheeled and landed on top of her while she was still 'astride' it and completely pulverised her pelvis.

It turned out that unbeknown to her and her Husband who was driving that she was pregnant.

She carried the child almost full term and gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl who is now, (as you might expect!), ten years old.

The damage to her pelvis is so bad that she'll always need surgery periodically, but it's miraculous that her daughter's here.
