Come on guys - can't find a link but it's all over the BBC News. Ford have come up with a 'key' that stops your kids listening to music too loud and going too fast!

Well, I didn't hear a definition of too loud but heard 80mph as being the maximum speed.
Hmm, 80 mph, still a speed that could mean problems.

I can find nothing on the BBC website regarding this.

Have you perhaps found a bong that you've decided to try out?

Also can limit the stereo volume which I found funny! If you want to be evil to your kids, set the radio to mute.

Its a shame it doesnt work in conjunction with the road sign recognition system and then limit the car to the speed limit. I do realise that can open more issues than it solves, like not having anything in reserve if you need to get out of a sticky situation.

Not my picture - posted by someone in the US who wanted to know why his hire car was doing this. It's a mykey thing.

Heard this on the radio this evening.

Sadly, limiting the top speed isn't really addressing the problem. Limiting to the appropriate speed for the conditions might save a few lives if someone can work out to to do it.

(Note - I'm after saving lives not licences)

Old news, surely. Didn't Ford launch this in the States about a year ago? The idea is the key can be set to limit things like engine power as well as the stereo volume. Intended if you're going to let your kids drive the thing. Somewhat like a glorified valet key, which I believe are quite popular for larger stuff over there.

Its a good idea in theory. In reality the parents will probably need the kids help to program it, which kind of defeats the purpose...

hehe
