At 10:00 AM CST, the NWS will release new data that will indicate that the storm will likely not strengthen as much as thought last night. That said, there will be 10-20 inches of rain in some sectors.

So far my friend in the USA has not been tooooo badly affected.

But it sounds like it is not going to be good news for many!

This is now a Tropical Storm, Lee. The problem here is that steering currents are dead and this thing will hover in the gulf and rain over a three to four day period. While the winds can be damaging, it is not the main concern as they are well below hurricane strength. The rain, however, forecasted to reach 20 inches in some place, can be a bigger problem then a full strentgh hurricane that moves on through post haste. We shall see.

Presumably if there's anything dodgy lurking in the Gulf we can safely assume that BP will be held responsible....
