Yup - Regime change has worked so well in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Actually I think it has worked well. It was painful and bloody, and way to costly, but both countries are in a better place now than they were in 2000. Afghanistan was heading way back to the middle ages, women were brutally suppressed into nothing more than being chattles or even 'livesstock' and the regieme was brutal and with no doubt supported the actions of Bin Laden and his followers with real help and aid.
Iraq was ruled by a brutal dictator that surpressed the majority of the population with terror and stayed in power by giving his own 'tribe' power throughout the country.
Both countries now have the chance of a better future, but how they go to this point was at a great cost to both many of their citizens and ours.
Both countries have a very long way to go, but at least are moving in the right direction. Without the regieme change, they would be worse places than they are now.
Was it worth it? Not for those people that have had to sacrifice their loved ones, no. But for those now living with increased freedom and the hope of a better future, I'd say yes, overall.

What about the 60m people in the UK living with less freedom and a higher terrorist threat? (which Blair still believes is not the case)We tried to give Iran a warning in the 80's when Saddam went all wild wild west on them by giving him all the military support he wanted behind the scenes.
Didnt work then...if Iran is to be hit hard....the only way..is for the gulf arabs to go to war against Iran. And considering all of them are threatened by Iran, it is a possibility. Anything else is a 'crusade' and inevitably Israel will get hit to settle scores with the west and then its game over if the 'Jews' get involved too.
Tony Blair is an idiot....he should know better than to come out with statements like this that draw us into an international conspiracy. Get the Arabs involved against Iran you muppet...and we can support them behind the curtains for years.

Bang on, and also this:Sky article said:
Reflecting on the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, Mr Blair admitted he mistakenly expected the interventions to be relatively short.

Yeah, my life has been like, so ruined. My 'freedoms' have been so taken away. Oh, my god, having to take off my shoes at the airport, and not being allowed to take my own drink through customs, etc etc. Ruined.
"Tony Blair calls for regime change in Iran and Syria"
No he didn't.
"Regime change in Tehran would immediately make me significantly more optimistic about the whole of the region."
He just said that he would like to see regime change.
"The former prime minister appears to be open to the idea of a military attack against Iran if it comes close to acquiring nuclear missiles. But he makes clear he was not advocating a military strike."
I'm not sure even they know what they are trying to say.

Aye it is BS and I bet it wouldn't stop a terrorist if they really wanted to get in and cause havoc. I just bet it wouldn't.

t.Here's an example of ridiculousness for you. Went through Belfast city airport the other day, left a small 30ml tub of nivea in my bag. Of course it was found in the Xray, removed and i was told it would need to be disposed of. Now fair enough I can deal with that... Just bin it. However the chap then said to me, if you go back to the check in and put it in a plastic bag, you can keep it!!
What? It's possibly dangerous and must be binned one minute, but go back and put it in a plaggy bag and it's perfectly fine? No logic there, at all.
Also had to empty my entire bag twice because of my iBomb, oh sorry I mean iPad. And I can just imagine, while us sheep are having our sweaty shoes swabbed for whatever, the real terrorist, if he exists, is busy doing a proper job and is probably already working as part of the baggage handling team.

My only issue with it is that some companies have made money or taken advantage of the higher sucurity procedures - likefor instance RyanAir, insisting on only 'one item of hand lugage', which is not on. They cover this with a 'security issue' when its really about getting people to travel with the minimum baggage possible, so that they dont have to pay baggage handlers.
