Heard this briefly mentioned on the radio earlier this evening, but can't see anything on the BBC website. Hmm.

Anyone shed any light on it? Who was there to "counter" who's demo?

It's a shame these guys get so much publicity. 100 odd people (on a good day) out of a UK Moslem population of millions yet people like Choudhary are always given a high profile by being invited on things like newsnight. Wish everyone (except the security services) would just ignore these bds.

..And for balance - these look like some dinosaurs from a '70's picket line!

It was the political dinosaurs of the 70s that allowed the rot (see top 2 pictures) to set in; and they weren't on the picket line.

It's a shame that anyone views today as an opportunity to voice their opinions.

More of a shame that he actually believes his placard.

I don't know why they couldn't round this lot up and charge 'em all with incitement ... burning the flag of the any country is pretty provocative but the stars & stripes on today of all days (or yesterday now!)

BUt the goold old British just keep taking it ... unreal. If they REALLY fancy themselves let them go do it in Manhattan ...

I wonder how many of the soldiers in the second world war who died for our freedom of speach envisaged a time when we would stand by and allow those who would take away those same liberties a voice?

I won't repeat what my ex-forces grandfather told me he thought about these types a couple of years ago, as I don't have the same freedom of speach that those protestors did yesterday, strangely.

Firstly - I thought there was already a law against inciting religious violence - but I guess that this 'protest' doesnt meet the criteria?

With regards to the EDL - if they were up for a fight and the MAC people just standing behind a barrier 'protesting' then i think it would be difficult to justify letting the EDL start a rumble - if both sides were up for a fight its another thing.

surely burning the flag like that is a hate crime?

typical..... we had 2 edl climb an empty building in dudley last year and wave an israeli flag (not burning anything) and police locked down the town centre and arrested them on terrorism charges but they allow this to happen and they dont even have to climb a ladder to arrest this lot.

any bets on what would have happened if some white people burnt an islamic flag....

the police top brass need to grow some balls and treat both lots of protesters the same.

Well, they want freedom to say what they want, and quite right too. However, when a chap drew a picture, rioting ensued all over the world, and people died. It's a strange situation.

what gets me about these fun-dumb-mentalists is if islam is so important to them why are they here and not in mecca/medina?
(and why when we try to deport them to an islamic country they cry about it stating its violent and unsafe)

There is no country that currently subscribes to what one might call proper Shariah as they see it - so going to a country that has a large Muslim population isn't necessarily going to solve anything from their POV,

The main too points from them as far as I understand are

mulims are suffering because of western forces (fair enough)
they want to make britain a shariah state (not fair enough)

do you think the e.d.l could sue the police on descrimination grounds as they are not allowed to get away with what the u.a.f/muslamics can do without care?

after all equality means equal for all not special treatment for one particular group.

or is that too much common sense for these apologist times.

They are British, by the looks of it. So no. Unless you are referring to Thicko-Land.
