Why Norway is not a democracy according to Fox News

Seems perfectly suited to the intelligence vacuum that is Fox News. You het the government you deserve, really. The apathy for politics is why it is like it is. People vote on party lines because they just do. The majority don't really know what is happening in politics. It's all one big thing that goes on, and isn't as interesting as Big Brother, or the latest gossip column.

I'm apathetic, but that's because I think they're all a special kind of s
t and there's not a viable alternative right now.I still voted but the choices were about in line with "would you like to have your testicles electrocuted for a bit, or held over a lit candle for a bit?"
None are going to be nice, so you pick the one that sounds the least s
te. And that takes some thought

There is a difference between apathy and contempt. I haven't voted for years because I have utter contempt for our political class, and indeed the system they have created. Voting simply encourages and legitimises them.

It's utter b
ks to claim we don't have democracy here.
If you don't like the people in power, you're free to vote for someone else.
If you don't like any of the people standing for election, you're free to stand against them yourself.
If you don't want to do that, then stop whining and accept the system you've chosen to live with.

From experience it's about right. You need to realise that democracy literally translates to People Power.

I'm also free to watch eastenders for all the good it does. Look at how many manifesto promises are kept: very few.

Only the big parties with the advertising money get in, independents have no chance.Kermit power said:

Why don't you stop whining? Once a party is in power it does what it likes, the people in the UK have no say and no power.Globs said:

when did people in the UK vote for Gordon Brown to be PM?
You vote for the party, not the PM. Of course "people" is plural, whereas person is singular. On 20 April 2004 Blair told Parliament it should debate the European constitutional question "in detail and decide upon it" and "then let the people have the final say".
Labour election manifesto in 2005: "We will put it (Europe) to the British people in a referendum and campaign wholeheartedly for a Yes vote.".
