Refused to repay his advance, but still thought they should withdraw the book.
Cupid stunt.
Fully agree.
Cupid stunt.
I suspect that he feels after spending 50+ hours with his ghost writer, having had multiple opportunities to provide a revised draft and having had the contract altered a few times to allow him more freedom that they have totally stitched him up.
He saw an opportunity to make a quick buck himself and when it wasn't going the way he wanted tried to get out of it without repaying the money he had already spend.
There is a sort of delicious irony in seeing a biter bitten.
Cupid Stunt indeed.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a publicity stunt to create interest for the book ?
Well, it has certainly made me aware of it but unless every book includes a £50 note, I certainly won't be buying it. (Maybe I'm being ignorant and he's actually a real life action superhero?)Assange would be getting taste of own medicine if he was a government, say experts
The Rational Voice Of Britain said:
JULIAN Assange is not really getting a taste of his own medicine because he is not a huge, deceitful government, experts have confirmed.
As the Wikileaks founder tried to stop the publication of his own memoirs, he was accused of hypocrisy by people who prefer not to have fully formed thoughts.
Roy Hobbs, a sales executive from Stevenage who thinks famine relief does more harm than good, said: "This is an important victory for all those who are sent to jail unless they give 40% of their income to Julian Assange.
"I'll wager he will now use his unprecedented military and economic power to have his publisher arrested for rape."
But specialists in medicine taking stressed there were a handful of key differences between a private citizen with a laptop and an organisation with a trillion dollar budget and 'stuff' like Navy SEALs and the CIA
Professor Henry Brubaker, of the Institute for Studies said: "He's not exposing things that 'people' want to keep secret, he is exposing things that huge, venal, corrupt entities, bristling with state of the art death and who regard you as part cash machine part cannon fodder, want to keep secret.
"Please, for the love of Buddha, tell me you understand the difference."
He added: "And by the way, just because he looks slightly creepy does not actually mean he's the baddie."

If you are going to war on moral grounds then you had better be very clean yourself.
JA may well not be.
If you are going to disclose information about an entity that it would rather keep quiet then you should be prepared for information you would rather remain private to be disclosed.
If you enter into a contract to provide that information, do so, and then try to prevent its publication, even after you have been given the chance to see this information you have provided you have no legs to stand on.
Yes JA is not the UK or USA but he has put himself out there and if he thinks that governments should disclose all their secrets then he is a moron for agreeing to disclose his, receiving payment for them and then trying to back out of the deal.
Governments never said that they would tell you everything.

I thought this was a stunt as soon as I read about it. What better way to publicise his book than to suggest the "king of leaks" has had his book leaked onto the market.Imagine how many people will buy it to spite him by thinking he doesn't want them to read it.
It's a brilliant example of reverse psychology, tell the reading public you don't want them to see it and the readers will think they are getting one over on you by reading what you don't want them to see.

The reality is he'll sell more copies than if it were published in the normal way.
