Our England said:
In May 2010 Tohseef Shah spray painted a British War Memorial with “Islam will dominate Osama is coming” he was fined £50 & walked free from court. In November 2010, Emdadur Choudhury burned a Poppy during the 2mins silence. He too was given a £50 fine and walked free from court. Today, 2 men have been sentenced to 12 months in prison for spray painting a Poppy on a mosque. Welcome to the Great British justice system.

Ste Vasey & Anth Smith spray a poppy on a mosque & have both just been given a 12 month prison sentence. Two tier system. The British justice system is CORRUPT.

Do not expect to see the Daily Mail or The Telegraph to give Ste Vasey or Anth Smith the same coverage in the their publications, why? Because the two tier system not only exists in the Justice system but it is ingrained in all aspects of Britain through political correctness, cultural awareness and any other crackpot name you can think off.
I'm only going on third part information but this doesn't seem right, surely?

A muslim desecrates a British war memorial and gets a fifty quid fine yet a Brit does the same and gets a year in jail. From where I'm sat there's something very rotten in our justice system...

You do get inconsistencies between judges - so it may have been that the first 2 got off lightly or the second 2 got it harsh.

IMO the first 2 got off lightly. And I would agree that there possibly is bias.

Speaing of which, I saw this on the enws today:

The ones who daubed a poppy (and a cross) on the mosque were members of the EDL, so doubt that helped their case!

However, the irony was in the last part of the sentence given the leader of the Muslim community in the area of the mosque in question.
He said, and I quote:

'It is only in pure ignorance that they have done this and it is unfortunate that they will now spend time in prison.

But you have to obey the laws of where you live.'

What he said. My partner is a proscecutor and although the prior convictions cannot be used in a hearing, it is most definatly used in sentencing.

Who gives a fk? How dare they act the and disrespect our fallen servicemen. People who sacrificed themselves so that s like this can claim their free speech? fk their previous convictions. It's about the UK woke up and stood up for it's own culture, not the unwanted imports who spread their hate of the west with abandon.

As the OP states, this is effectively another decision which drives people towards extremism and hatred of immigrants. Sad.

The Trojan Horse of Islamic Immigration no less. How can you defend your borders from it when it's already inside? Bringing back the death penalty for treason should do the trick, and serve the double benefit of emptying out the Houses of Commons and Lords.

What is criminal about burning a Poppy?

It's disrespectful, petty and downright nasty, but why is it a criminal offence?

I thought our wonderful system had allowed for such things under freedom of speech or human rights or some other bunkum?

I'm sorry mate but on this one I massively disagree. The poppy MEANS something. Several of my family (young men) are lying unfound in a field in France as a result of them fighting for the freedom that these f ckers abuse so readily.

I'm not a racist, I'm an idiotist.

i disagree. the poppy is a symbol for a cause, not the cause itself.

Could the same not be said about a mosque?

Even if you say they are both equal in terms of symbolism you have the following.

A) Damage to someone building
B) Burning a piece of paper that you bought.

If you take away the meaning from the poppy and the mosque, A is a greater crime than B.

I'm in agreement Soov.

My question was a technical one - what precisely was the offence?

True, but surely both could be considered equal in terms of a 'hate crime'? Both involved desecration of a symbol to express hatred and extremism.
