Surprised there's no topic about this - can Liam Fox stay or has he shown a lack of judgement that is incompatible with holding office?

And what did his friend get out of it? Money, influence or was it just some walter Mitty fantasy?

No one cares; it's just being desperately stirred up day after day by the BBC. Despite being a lead item on the website, no Liam fox story is in the most read or most shared categories on the BBC news website. Even BBC readers don't give a toss about this story.

...and despite starting a proper investigation into this, aparently he is now "refusing to answer further questions..." about it. So, rather then wait for the report then... rolleyes

It is currently the No.6 story of the Most Popular Read items on tbe BBC News site.

I care. Bent politicians and their bent friends concern me.

It's also the third story on the Telegraph website. Even the Daily Mail is covering it on their front page (one of the reader comments remarks had it been a Labour Minister it would have been the top story).

Let's not let this stop the usual anti BBC posts though. I feel safe amongst familiarity.

Was it the same guy who was bumming Haig in the 'double room' non event, or is it just the usual 'old pals act' type of non event?

Something like labour's cash for influence scandal I would expect heads to roll, this liam fox thing seems like nothing in comparison.

I'm sorry but the BBC should be ashamed of having this article number one on their news page. Yes it's now the most read, but it has no content at all. And yes this is another BBC bashing as yet again they thrash around for anti-Tory stories. If only they would have done so when labour were in power. Yes it does concern me what Fox does with his mates, but right now there isn't any evidence of terrible wrong doing to shout from the rooftops.

Everyone else is reporting it too, so why shouldn't the BBC report it? I've done lots of work for the MoD before, if I just took in one of my mates for a look see I would have been sacked.

No problem with it being reported, attempting to make a mountain out of an issue that isn't yet a real story is another.

It's not exactly the biggest day for news is it?

BBC news page lists the following

Liam Fox story
Welsh Rugby World Cup success
Libya
Syria

Sky News

Liam Fox story
difficult to tell the order but at a guess...
Michael Jackson (bit of self interest here)
Eurozone
Libya
Yemen

Daily Telegraph

Libya
Pensions values
Liam Fox story
Trouble with the Euro

Daily Mail

Wintry weather
Euro Lottery
Bono charity
Spanish bullfighter injury
Liam Fox story

Daily Express

Wintry weather
Blatant advert for new lottery
Amanda Knox
Anti Gordon Brown story

Guardian

Liam Fox story
Yemen
US Ambassador gaffe
Libya

The Times

who knows

If these are the stories the news outlets are running with then I can forgive weekend editors for running the Liam Fox story in the top three. After all a Secretary of State has insitgated an investigation into his own activities. I'd imagine there is little to it other than several peoples' poor judgements, but it's still a fairly remarkable story and doesn't appear to have much newsworthy competition today.

Well it's now the telegraph's top story too:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/8815797/L...

This is the same man who stole, ermm sorry 'over claimed' £22k more than he was entitled to for mortgage interest payments.

Isn't he a Dr?

Dr Fox?

He was good on the Pepsi chart show, seems to have lost it a bit recently.

Yes - he actually has an impressive background and is one of the better members of cabinet imo. Brought up in a working class family, worked as a GP, served in the Army, self made millionaire, isn't afraid to air his views in public and is to the right of Cameron.

The issue here does not even seem very serious however as with many political scandals, it's not the initial event which ends careers but the cover up and lies afterwards.

There's no topic on here because 98% PHers would suck wet farts out the Tory machine if they could . There are many topics in the news that don't appear on here unless they are of the red colour and then all sorts of idiotic posts come out like no tomorrow
