To make the markets happy

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15360697

Apple report full year profits up 85% to 26.5 BILLION and still the share price drops, in my little world this is,just nuts.

Their share price has more than doubled in the last 12 months. On 16th October last year the share price was 188.05. Now it is $422.24.

At the moment their earnings per share is about 6%. All looks normal.

It's probably because jobs is dead.

For me I reckon theyll be fine for a while, but as people retire or move on I think without a character like Steve at the top employing his mantra on people they might lose their way a little.

The results were probably already factored into the stock price. Unless Apple came in way above estimates there was always a chance of a slip.

Happens with Microsoft every time too and probably every stock I don't follow!!

Market prices in a certain amount of growth.

Results show this expected (by analysts) growth has not been achieved.

Price adjusted accordingly.

This +1000.

People who own the shares (or who advise the share owners) have certain expectations for their results.
Beat = up.
Miss = down.

Home Retail this morning advised analysts to reduce their expectations for the full year profit before tax from around £140m to closer to £120m.
Therefore, stock down.

Not bad considering it was a $6 (yes, $6) 7 ish years ago.

If you stuck £50k in Apple then it would now be worth £3.5m!!

ETA.....now, where's that time machine thread!
