Six months for Contempt and a big box for juror's mobile phones at the entrance to the courtroom.

The 'Crapland' bosses will be before the court again in the not too distant future, no doubt.

It didn't look any worse than Skegness Butlins to me.

The idea was good, just badly run.

In the interest of fairness, this is the original http://www.laplanduk.co.uk/ and where the idea was copied from.Having taken the kids and grandparents there 3 years ago I'd highly recommend it as a lovely Xmas day out.No con involved in this one.

Slightly O/T but one of the grimmest scenes I've witnessed was the airport in Enontekio [sp?] in Finnish Lapland last December.

Long story short, Mrs Digga's b'day present was a trip to see the Northern Lights and we ended up going in the midst of the pre-Christams kddie rush. We were staying a god way out into the arctic circle for a few days, but the airport was full of families on day trips from the UK. The kids looked totally knackered, the parents looked stressed and haggered.

All I can say is don't ever be tempted.

Our trip was fun - driving dog sleds, snowmobiles and so on - but the Northern Lights failed to make anything more than a very half-arsed showing - this, apparently, is always a risk - but the "Santa day-trip", no way I'd subject my family to that!

I recently had a three day trial in the RCJ. The defendant family sat there having a FACKING PICNIC with flasks of tea and sandwiches at one point. Unbelievable.

The Courts were just about the last place where thickos felt any fear, and even that is declining.

I didn't think that the role of the court was to instill fear. Isn't it to dispense justice?

And if that was your atitude, you certainly don't seem to possess the correct mentality to be a juror.

I went skiing in Levi a few years ago and it was a superb holiday; we did the lapland thing as adults and thought it was great.

The only bad bit was the husky trek we did which sounds great until reality of sitting a foot and a half from a Husky that is shooting turds out it's arse like a sniper using 2" long dog turds for ammunition. I don't think I've ever moved so fast in my life.

We have our own dogs (not huskies) at home, but nothing prepared us for the huskies unique ability to run and st at the same time. Marvelous! hehe

That aside, both me & the Mrs (we took turns driving and being driven) thought the Husky sled trail was absolutely brilliant. A bit like a cross between skiing and biking and, with the effortless way the huskies pulled (we seemed to spend a lot of time braking,, just to avoid hitting the sledge ahead, despite travelling pretty rapidly) it was a bit like sailing too.

Did you do a Skidoo safari too? I thought that was great fun, especially the way the guide seemed to not care a jot whether you drove flat out or just bimbled along.

Without question it was THE best skiing holiday I've ever had - granted the mountains are more like hills but the snow quality is something special. Like skiing on damp sugar.

I'm not allowed to be a juror, by dint of my profession!!

It's not a good thing for defendants to think that a day in court is a jape. It's not.

Of course not. But I would assume prejudging defendants is not supposed to be allowed?

No it's not, but I have heard a juror say "just look at him, of course he did it"

Soovy that's nothing, ask the security guys at the entrance to the RCJ just how much alcohol they seize off people. There are quite frequently bottles of wine, multiple cans of lager which people have tried to take in. They think it's some kind of jolly.

Should that juror not have been reported and dismissed immediately?

Yes and one of the party - she had no excuse because she's recently owned DB(s and (11 turbos - managed to park her's in the scenery. FWIW, I did manage to scare myself witless at one point, but was simply lucky enough not to crash. As you say, they let you use those things to the max! The Finns are certainly crazy in a good way.

When I was 20 I spent a month on a muder and multiple rape case at Winchester Crown Court. To this day I am still amazed at the attitude of some of the other members of the jury.

I was by far the youngest member by at least 20years, it was the very sensible older members of the jury coming out with comments like "I know he did it, he looks guilty" etc.

Smackheads seem to use our local mags court as some sort of drop in centre. They're not actually there to be in court, they just use it as somewhere to get out of the cold, sitting in the public gallery all day, moving between courts and occassionally disappearing to the toilets, probably to shoot up.
