You can get charged with "improper use of a social networking site"?

And once again, as proud as I am to be a part of the UK, I'm embarrassed to be from this particular part of it frown

Muppetry of the very highest order, and an embarrassment to us all. But I'm very glad the disrespectful bds got charged.

Yes, but that would have been racist.

Understood smile

The only good point about this is that they were 16 year old lads and hopefully they'll learn from the negative reaction their actions have met.

Maybe.

Frankly I'm fairly ambivilent about poppy burning. What is irritating is this mish mash of enforcement whereby one guy gets done for littering, these guys get done for inciting racial hatred and then others don't get stopped at all.

I know the law is not an exact science, but it smacks to me of being scared of tackling a bunch of genuinely aggressive trouble makers while coming down hard on a bunch of kids messing about.

Admonishing and scaring youngsters by imposing the law might be moere effective in the long run than going easy on them.

In May 2010 Tohseef Shah spray painted a British War Memorial with "islam will dominate. Osama" he was fined £50 & walked free from court.

In November 2010, Emdadur Choudhury burned a Poppy during the 2mins silence. He too was given a fine, £50 and walked free from court.

A few weeks ago, in a Portsmouth Court, 2 men were sentenced to 6 months in prison for painting a Poppy on a mosque.

I guess these guys will get time.

I thought the gentlemen who had sprayed the poppy were jailed for a string of offences including violent affray and assulting a police officer - and the EDL and others have just used parts of this to fuel the debate...

As indeed may be the case for Islamic fundamentalists, but we will never know because the authorities, in their wisdom, opted to let them get away with it.

The message it sends to me is that if you're going to be obnoxious, be really obnoxious.
